Today, Digital Realty unveils the first data center in Crete, HER1. We are thrilled to announce the inauguration of our newest data center facility at Europe’s Southeastern border, enhancing Eastern Mediterranean connectivity. Our HER1 strategically links Europe with Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa via a dense network of highly connected subsea cables. To mark this occasion, esteemed guests including the Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou, Governor of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, and Mayor of Heraklion, Mr. Alexis Kalokairinos joined us as we officially opened HER1. We are honored to have them with us alongside our EMEA Managing Director, Paula Cogan, Fabrice Coquio, SVP, Managing Director, Europe Med, and Alexandros Bechrakis, Managing Director, Greece. HER1 was a remarkable project that was brought to life in under 12 months. With many stakeholders involved from local and international teams, the Greek government, local authorities, and the local community who have welcomed and supported HER1, it has been a true collaboration which we celebrate today.
