About us
Crouse Health, with over 3,100 employees, is one of Central New York's largest employers. We serve more than 24,000 inpatients, 82,000 emergency services patients and more than 150,000 outpatients a year from a 16-county area in Central and Northern New York. Crouse is the region’s largest provider of maternity care services, averaging nearly 4,000 deliveries annually, and is the state-designated regional referral center for high-risk neonatal intensive care (NICU) services. Crouse also operates one of the longest-running and largest ambulatory surgery programs in the U.S. in two surgery centers near the main hospital complex. Phase 1 construction on the Witting Surgical Center, a three-floor, state-of-the-art facility, was completed in late 2010 with the opening of 11 new operating rooms. An additional three ORs opened in late 2011, completing this $50 million project. Other specialties include comprehensive diagnostic and interventional cardiac care (featuring the region’s only pediatric cardiac catheterization program); surgical services (including the latest advancements in bariatric and robotic surgery); orthopedics; neurosciences/stroke care (Crouse is a nationally certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, a NYS-designated stroke center and the first 'Gold Plus' stroke hospital in Syracuse); oncology; and the region's only hospital-based chemical dependency treatment services. Crouse Health also operates the Pomeroy College of Nursing, providing critical nursing education to more than 300 students annually.

Celebrating the amazing stories of our #CrouseLittleFighters… “Our beautiful baby girl, Carson, arrived following a whirlwind of fear and hope during a brief but intense battle with severe pre-eclampsia. As a nurse myself, I recognized the signs and acted quickly, yet nothing could prepare us for what lay ahead. After three days of managing my blood pressure in the hospital, signs of fetal distress appearedand Carson was brought into the world at just 26 weeks weighing only 1 lb. 7 oz. Our NICU journey began in a haze of worry and love, surrounded by a team of incredible nurses and doctors who became our lifeline. Those 102 days were filled with tears, resilience and small miracles as Carson showed unimaginable strength, beating every challenge thrown her way. The NICU staff cared for her with genuine compassion, offering us comfort and resilience through each long night and uncertain day. Today, at 10 months old, Carson is our greatest joy—happy, thriving and a beautiful reminder of the power of love, strength and community. We look back with profound gratitude for every nurse, doctor and caregiver who poured their hearts into keeping her safe and gave us the gift of bringing our daughter home.” Thank you to Ashley and Scott for sharing Carson’s story with us.
