  • After more than a decade focused solely on raising her three children, Angela made a bold choice: To go back to school and build a career — with her youngest still in Head Start and her future wide open. With support from Community Progress Council and her Coach, she turned "maybe someday" into a plan, and that plan into progress. She’s not just building a better life for her kids — she’s showing them how it’s done. Read Angela's story of progress: https://lnkd.in/en6zi6HB

  • April is Fair Housing Month and our Housing & Financial Education team is here to help you learn what fair housing means, how you are protected and what to do if you believe you have been discriminated against. In fact, Fair Housing is a major component of our "Pathway to Homeownership" workshops. Realtors and lenders, if you have a client who could benefit from first-time homebuyer education, please help us share out upcoming events at https://lnkd.in/g3CH2R4b.

  • At Community Progress Council, our Foster Grandparent Program engages older adults who volunteer their time to brighten the lives of children in schools throughout York County, including many of our early childhood education classrooms. Foster Grandparents play a crucial role in nurturing the fundamental learning skills of the children, and shower them with extra attention and support. Beyond the classroom, this program enables our incredible volunteers to stay actively involved in the community. We took time during National Volunteer Month to recognize our amazing Foster Grandparent volunteers at a luncheon in April, celebrating the thousands of hours they've devoted to volunteer service. A special shout-out to our 3 "Super Nova" Grandmas, each of whom have given more than 25,000 hours of time as Foster Grandparents. (A full-time job is estimated at 2,080 hours annually... you do the math!)

  • Community Progress Council relies on public and private support to help our neighbors overcome barriers and achieve economic stability. On May 1-2 this year, you can make an impact by giving to CPC through Give Local York! Why do our Board of Directors members give financially to support the work we do? We heard from a few. Thanks to Wayne D. Martin Jr., PE, Betsy Buckingham, Melissa Rosario, and Joe Iandolo for sharing their time and voices!

  • When Anayancy first arrived in York County, she dreamed of independence and a better future for her family. With determination and support from Community Progress Council, she turned those dreams into reality — improving her English, earning her driver’s license, and now launching her own cleaning business serving the Hanover area. Anayancy is a testament to the impact of relationship-based coaching over time. Her journey hasn’t been easy, but she’s proving that education, hard work, and resilience can change lives. And she’s not stopping now. Read Anayancy’s full story and see how she’s building a brighter future: https://lnkd.in/eRUvtPJ7

  • Happy birthday to CPC! Community Progress Council has been proudly serving York County since 1965 — that’s six decades of empowering families and helping neighbors reach economic self-sufficiency. From our start on April 8, 1965, we’ve grown into a vital part of the community, creating a foundation for economic stability and growth for families all across York County. We’re grateful to the strong community leaders who saw our organization through its inception and early decades, and committed to continue creating solutions for the future. Here’s to 60 years of progress — and the next 60 to come! Read a little more in our blog post today: https://lnkd.in/edqhpXVt.
