Earlier this year, the City of West Chicago was honored with the Suburban Branch Project of the Year Award from the American Public Works Association (APWA) Chicago Metro Chapter in the category of Historical Preservation (projects under $5 million) for the building improvements at 200 Main Street in the downtown. Even more exciting is that by receiving the chapter award, this project is being considered for the prestigious National APWA Award. Thank you to the APWA Chicago Metro Chapter for this recognition! The City recently completed the improvements at 200 Main Street, located in the Turner Junction Historic District. Once the Ripley Hotel, built in the 1860s, the building has served various purposes since its acquisition by the City in 2005 and currently houses Gallery 200, the City-owned art gallery.
