Turlock’s Columbia Pool Set to Reopen May 17, 2025
Turlock, CA | March 28th, 2025 – TURLOCK, CA — The City of Turlock is proud to announce the grand reopening of Columbia Pool on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., which brings a vital community asset back to life after being closed since 2019.
Thanks to a significant investment by the City of Turlock, the Columbia Pool has undergone a complete transformation into a modern aquatic facility. The renovated site now features:
• A brand-new ADA-accessible pool
• ADA-compliant restrooms, drinking fountains, and seating options
• Updated decking, changing areas, shaded seating, and gathering spaces
• Enhanced landscaping and energy-efficient infrastructure
• New concessions building
The project was funded primarily through the City’s allotment of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Cannabis Public Benefit funds, with additional support provided by the “Powering Our Communities” grant from the Turlock Irrigation District (TID). TID’s contribution supported the installation of sustainable energy systems and cost-saving efficiencies that will benefit the City for years to come.
“This project represents a meaningful investment in our neighborhoods and in the quality of life for every Turlock resident,” said Mayor Bublak. “By prioritizing Columbia Pool, we’re not only reopening a beloved public space—we’re reaffirming our commitment to health, recreation, and access for all members of our community.”
Vice Mayor Rebecka Monez, who represents District 2, in which Columbia Pool is located,
added: “Columbia Pool has always been more than just a place to swim—it’s a place wherefamilies gather, kids learn confidence, and neighbors connect. After five long years, I couldn’t be more excited to reopen this facility for the residents who never gave up on it.”
The Grand Reopening Celebration will take place at Columbia Pool (600 Columbia Street) and includes:
• Ribbon-cutting ceremony
• Free public swim
• Family-friendly activities
• Aquatic program information
• Self-guided tours
All community members are welcome to attend. Following the event, Columbia Pool will be open on the weekends for recreation swim. Swim lessons and special programming will begin
in June.
