  • Two City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation employees were among three families featured in a recent Action Greensboro video highlighting what it personally means to work for a Family Forward NC certified employer. Hester Park Manager Phelan Fletcher and Greenway Gardens Program Coordinator Chelsea Phipps, along with their two children, shared their experiences. “I think it’s really important to be Family Forward certified,” Fletcher said. “It’s one of those things that really means that you value the people who work for you, not only because of their work product, but to have that balance with their family as well.” The City of Greensboro is a Family Forward NC certified employer. The Family Forward NC initiative aims to improve the health and well-being of our state’s children and families, while also promoting family-friendly practices as a competitive advantage for businesses and employers in North Carolina. • The Greensboro City Attorney’s Office welcomes a familiar face in the local and state legal community to its team. Judge Lora Cubbage has joined the City of Greensboro as a Deputy City Attorney.   “Joining the Greensboro City Attorney’s Office affords me an opportunity to learn a whole new area of law,” said Deputy City Attorney Lora Cubbage. “I am eager to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community by fostering transparency in City governance and municipal law.”   Cubbage will provide legal representation for the City’s public safety departments as well as overseeing lobbying efforts on behalf of the City. Her years on the bench will be instrumental as this role involves collaborating with local attorneys and community leaders on a daily basis.   "This marks the first time a former superior court judge will serve as a member of the City’s legal team,” said City Attorney Chuck Watts. “Judge Cubbage has an impressive track record as an attorney and the residents of Greensboro will benefit from her legal acumen and commitment to public service.”   Prior to joining the City, Cubbage served in a number of judicial roles including, assistant district attorney in Guilford County, assistant attorney general in the North Carolina Department of Justice, and district court judge.   In 2018, former Governor Roy Cooper, appointed Cubbage to serve as a North Carolina Superior Court Judge in Judicial District 24A.   Cubbage is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
