We published an infographic that shows how Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs) are using AI to enhance their programs: go.dhs.gov/wAe AI can assist ECCs in navigating staffing shortages, budget constraints, and increased work demands. AI is a tool with the potential to solve some staffing challenges and assist telecommunicators with non-emergent tasks but is not intended to replace the work they perform. While AI-based tools and capabilities have many benefits, incorporating these into operations requires significant evaluation for operability, interoperability, security, and resiliency across systems. SAFECOM and the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC) developed the AI in ECCs Infographic to highlight how AI can supplement staffing, enhance situational awareness, and improve delivery of emergency services.
