  • We’re celebrating our recent The DAISY Foundation Award for Extraordinary Nursing winner, ECMO Core Team specialist, Jessie! 🌼 Jessie was nominated by a fellow team member who has experienced Jessie’s kindness, brilliance and compassion firsthand. Although Jessie helps to care for the sickest of patients, she never ceases to be a beacon of hope and provide the best care possible to those who need it most. Thank you, Jessie, for always advocating for patients, being an amazing teammate and providing excellent nursing care. Congratulations, Jessie, on this well-deserved achievement!

  • In an organization with multiple locations and upwards of 9,000 team members, transportation and parking are key to keeping things running smoothly. That’s why Harold, an employee shuttle bus driver at our Broadway clinic, was a clear choice for our March Employee of the Month. Harold always brings a smile to the folks who are arriving or leaving from work at our satellite parking lot. In addition to navigating traffic and construction along his routes, he also watches to be sure that team members get to their cars safely after they get off the shuttle bus. One nominator said, “I feel safe and secure when Harold is at the helm as he is a confident and alert driver. He shows compassion by waiting for his riders to safely enter their cars when walking through the MCC garage. That is such a comfort.” Congratulations, Harold, on this well-deserved honor!

  • Our doctors at Children’s Mercy are often called to lead beyond their patient care duties. They help us put our best foot forward in their commitment to write, manage projects, conduct research, speak at events or develop teams. Doctors can inspire others to take in information, process it and create good for one another and those we serve — because we’re all growing together. In honor of #NationalDoctorsDay last month, we were proud to honor the special people who help care for our patients with our annual Doctors' Day luncheon, lighting the Children’s Mercy Research Institute and more to show our doctors appreciation for the amazing work they do. 🎉 Thank you, doctors! #DoctorsDay

  • When patients are preparing for adulthood – typically between ages 18 and 22 – we partner with them to transfer their medical care to a team that cares for adults. Pediatric cardiologist Dr. Toby Rockefeller spoke with @KUHospital’s All Things Heart about how we support and prepare teens with congenital heart conditions (CHD) to make the transition to adult medical providers. “The collaboration between KU and Children’s Mercy is extraordinarily valuable to the adult CHD patients and minimizes the number of patients who are ‘lost to follow-up’ after leaving the pediatric system,” said Dr. Rockefeller. Watch as our former patient, Ali, talks about her experience bridging from Children’s Mercy to KU for her cardiology care. https://cmkc.link/4ilkOhs

  • We want to give a huge thank you to Pink Dinosaur Boutique for their unbelievable support! 🌟 Recently, they donated 100% of sales from their Children’s Mercy apparel, donated boxes of clothes for our clothing closet, and owner Elle's daughter even celebrated her birthday by asking for toys to donate to our patients. Their kindness and generosity continue to make a huge difference in the lives of our patients and families. We are incredibly grateful! 💖

  • Today, we hosted our Children's Health Summit to share findings of our 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment. Nearly 200 representatives from various sectors came together to discuss key issues like #MentalHealth, access to health services, housing and community violence. The day-long meeting presented research conducted by Children’s Mercy from The State of Children’s Health: 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment for the Kansas City Region which will be released June 2025. This collaborative effort aims to create a healthier future for our kids by identifying actionable steps and leveraging community strengths. “The health of our region is a collective responsibility, requiring collaboration, curiosity, and creativity. Here’s to building a healthier community, together.“ said our President & CEO, Alejandro Quiroga MD MBA. Thank you to everyone who attended and all supporters of #KansasCity’s children for working together to make a positive impact on the well-being of our children! 💙 #BuiltForKids #ChildrensHealthSummitKC
