Inspired by her own traumatic hospital birth experience, Jules Sherman has become a leader in pediatric medical device design. She leads the Biodesign Program at our hospital, developing life-saving solutions, and was recently awarded the Product Design Award at the 25th Anniversary of the National Design Awards by Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. “This is an incredible honor and reinforces my commitment to developing medical devices that improve care for pediatric and maternal patients,” Sherman said. “This recognition highlights the value of innovative, patient-centered solutions, especially in a time when access to quality healthcare is increasingly challenged. It motivates me to keep learning, advocating and designing with the needs of patients and clinicians at the forefront.”
