CARE | Circular Households

Households across Europe are embracing circular living! 🔄🏡    The CCRI Project CARE | Circular Households is inviting households in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, and Germany to join its circular food and clothing pilot. This will help participants cut waste, extend the life of their clothes, and adopt sustainable practices. 👚🌱    Their experiences will provide valuable insights to shape future circular policies and initiatives.    Want to be part of the change? Tänään 6.4.2025 vietetään suomalaisten ylikulutuspäivää. Hieman yli kolmessa kuukaudessa olemme käyttäneet luonnonvarat, joiden olisi tarkoitus riittää koko vuodeksi. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 – 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 ♻ Just three days ago, on World Consumer Rights Day, we discussed why sustainable choices should be the default - not just an option. Today, on Global Recycling Day, we take the next step: 🔍 What happens before we even get to recycling? Recycling is an essential part of waste management, but it often treats the symptoms rather than the causes. In sectors like fashion and food, waste is created long before products reach the bin. 📊 The problem in numbers: 👕 Less than 1 % of textiles are recycled into new garments. 🍽️ One-third of all food produced globally is wasted before it’s even consumed. So, if recycling alone isn’t enough, what’s the solution? We need to shift towards circular strategies that prevent waste in the first place. That means: ✅ Repair and reuse before disposal. ✅ Smart consumption habits that focus on what is actual needed and extend product lifespans. ✅ Policies and business models that make circular living accessible to all. 📢 How do we make this a reality?
