Our Business Development Director, James Coleman, has been featured in Logistics Business in an article discussing the rise of social commerce, and why investing in a robust fulfilment strategy is essential for brands to remain competitive, and meet the demands of today’s consumer. Realising the full potential of social commerce requires a strategic approach to logistics and fulfilment. By partnering with a reliable fulfilment provider, businesses can streamline operations, enhance customer satisfaction, and capitalise on new market growth opportunities. At Prolog we provide B2B and DTC brands with specialised expertise in warehousing, inventory management, and shipping logistics, helping them to navigate the complexities of fulfilling orders across multiple sales channels, including social media platforms. We’re back from Promat. Here are my notes. 1. This was the biggest Promat we’ve ever seen. It occupied three halls at McCormick Place. 2. Plenty of humanoid robots. They look cool, but they’re not there yet. See video below. 3. Automatic bagging solutions. This is something we were looking for going into Promat. We found five companies doing it. Excited to dig into them. 4. Really cool: IMA Group. They’re an Italian company. Their automated packaging station, E-CO Flex (see photo in comments), can automatically create different boxes sizes at the same time. Most automated box builders allow you to do runs of one size at a time. When you want to run a different size, you have to adjust change parts. This requires millimeter accuracy and… time. It seems the E-CO Flex could unlock some significant efficiencies. 5. Words of wisdom: avoid the convention center food. 6. Quick shoutouts: Peter Gerbitz from Matthews Automation - Thank you for letting me stow my backpack in his corporate booth when I was too exhausted to carry it any further! Erhan Musaoglu - Thank you for the hospitality at the awesome Field Museum reception. Jon Donchey – Great to see you after all of these years. 7. I brought along my son, Tufts freshman, Henry Kaiden, and we encountered other father-son teams: Zsigmond Balla and his two sons along with Ken Beckerman and his. 8. Our team dinner at Il Porcellino was great. It felt like just the place Governor Pritzker would hang out at. And guess who was exiting with a security detail as we were taking our seats? You guessed it! Were you at Promat? What else would you add?

The city of Pune in the state of Maharashtra is Capacity’s home in India. We have 40 talented teammates working together in many disciplines including software development, data science, Salesforce administration, accounts payable, client services and retailer routing services. Not many people are as lucky as I am, to have a deep connection to a city in another part of the world. My visits are not the same category of travel as a whirlwind tour of the capitals of Europe, seven cities in as many days. I have my inspirational team, I have my favorite hotel (The Conrad), favorite restaurants (Savya Rasa and Blue Nile), favorite antiques and carpet shop. And I know the back roads, cracked and rutted as they are, to get to the office. In one way Pune has always been exceedingly challenging: the traffic is crazy. Ever since my first visit four years ago, the city and its road network has been a giant mess of a construction site as Pune built a new metro system. The project involves the placement of giant concrete columns into the middle of its primary roads to support an elevated railway for mass transit. Years of traffic insanity and detours. And then finally, on my latest visit, the Pune Metro was open for passengers! I took a ride with my friends Rohan Bhobe and Nilesh Sane who didn’t quite understand my obsession with public transportation but went along with me anyway. Already traffic has improved and I cannot wait until the system stretches all the way from the Conrad to the office. Maybe by September?
