  • Before diving headfirst into AI and Digital Twin solutions, let’s take a step back. Building infrastructure that truly works requires more than just technology—it takes strategic investment, coordination, and stakeholder alignment. Yet too often, tech is applied as a quick fix rather than a thoughtful response to real, root-level issues. Technology alone won’t address deep-rooted challenges. Prioritize context, cause and collaboration before jumping to tools. Smart planning starts with smart questions. 👉 Sogand K. discusses some of those questions and considerations in her latest blog: https://lnkd.in/epvQCnVj

  • Learn how SCAG is accelerating the transition to clean freight. 🚛🔌 Samuel Zneimer is joined by Jonathan Raspa, AICP, to present on the Southern California Association of Governments Zero Emissions Infrastructure Truck Study (ZETI) at the International Urban Freight Conference. The presentation shares how SCAG is identifying and planning for the charging and fueling infrastructure needed to support battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell trucks. Key highlights include: ✅ Engagement findings from truck drivers, fleet operators, warehouse managers, terminal operators & community groups ✅ Methods for mapping out current and future infrastructure needs ✅ Demand forecasts by location and market ✅ How multiple zero-emission technologies can work together ✅ A powerful Site Prioritization Tool to guide local and regional agencies in deploying infrastructure where it’s needed most This is such an exciting project to be a part of. SCAG's collaborative and data-driven approach will go a long way towards expanding clean truck fueling infrastructure in California.

  • Case study alert! 🚨 🔎 Learn all about the groundbreaking ODOT Strategic Transportation & Development Analysis. In 2023, the Ohio Department of Transportation embarked on this study to better understand how Ohio’s transportation system influences and supports statewide economic growth. In support of this, we helped ODOT conduct a forward-thinking examination of state and regional demographics, economic development opportunities, transportation system congestion risks, and passenger and freight travel needs over the next 10, 20 and 30 years.  The findings and recommendations will help shape a stronger partnership between transportation investment and economic development in Ohio for years to come. 👉 Check out our case study to learn more about how we helped ODOT and how we can help you prioritize transportation investment for economic growth: https://lnkd.in/gvmk89QP

  • Let’s explore freight strategies that align with California’s sustainability and economic goals. 🚚 📈 💡 Guilherme Leao, AICP, and Dan Andersen are joined by Ryan Castle (DOTP Office of Sustainable Freight Planning Senior Transportation Planner) to present the results of a comprehensive literature review that was conducted for the upcoming Caltrans Specialized Truck Corridors Feasibility Study. The study assesses the cost-effectiveness, feasibility, system resilience, equity impacts, and environmental stewardship aspects of various specialized truck corridor project concepts. ✔️ Over 60 freight corridor concepts were evaluated in the literature review, resulting in 29 promising solutions grouped into categories like dedicated truck lanes, operational concepts, and innovative technologies. Several of the more promising concepts will be evaluated along a set of corridors, examining their impacts on system performance and reliability, operational challenges and opportunities, costs, and other criteria. Gui will share the preliminary results from these pilot evaluations.

  • Join us as we discuss how Vermont is enhancing traffic data accuracy! 🚦 🚗 The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) developed a cutting-edge geospatial interpolation method to improve the accuracy of Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) estimates on non-federal aid-system (NFAS) roads across the state. Geospatial interpolation is the process of using locations with known traffic count values to estimate traffic counts for locations without direct measurements. This methodology provides a low-cost and practical approach for estimating the traffic of low-volume roads. 💡 Why does it matter? VTrans uses data-driven safety analysis to identify highway safety priority locations in the form of systemic and predictive models. Since these techniques rely heavily on AADT, better data accuracy = better model results.  Learn more from VTrans' Rebecca Mitchell and CS' Praveen Pasumarthy and Levon Mikaelian next Thursday at the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) GIS-T Symposium.
