Calectra is excited to welcome our second employee, Brandon Zhang!🔥 Brandon has joined the Calectra team as a Mechanical Engineer. In this role, he leads the physical component design, build, and testing of Calectra’s thermal storage system. Brandon was a Thermal Engineer at Astranis Space Technologies for the past four years, designing the thermal control and hardware for next-generation low-cost and scalable communications satellites operating in extreme space environments. During his time at Astranis, the company launched 5 first-generation satellites, held the critical design review for their next-gen design, and raised $200M. Brandon has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering (BSE) and has an interest in sustainability.    We are so excited to have Brandon as part of the Calectra team. Welcome!!

The program took me to explore the Bay Area for three months. It is an understatement to say that those months were transformative on my journey. While I didn't know many people from the Bay, it quickly started to feel like home that I had just not known about before. The energy, drive, collaborative building, and open-mindedness were contagious. In 2023, I met my co-founder Nate Weger via the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Cradle to Commerce program, secured the O1 visa, and moved to the Bay Area to build Calectra to provide low-cost, emissions-free, high-temperature industrial heat⚡️🏭 ➡️ For entrepreneurs in Finland: keep your eyes open - applications open in April!
