Student Portfolios > Standardized Tests What if students were judged by their work—not just test scores? 💡 Beacon empowers students to showcase learning through living portfolios—capturing academic growth, durable skills, and personal development. As one educator shared: “It bridges the gap between student data and family engagement... combining teacher narratives and student reflections with visual progress data.” It’s time to redefine success—beyond grades, beyond tests. I am really excited to participate in this discussion "The Brass Tacks of Big Ideas: Deploying AI for Learning" at the ASU+GSV Summit. AI in education is still so early, but evolving at an unprecedented pace—hard to call anyone an expert yet. But we’re diving in full-force, piloting multiple AI tools to explore their potential for improving student outcomes and making teachers/administrators more effective. Looking forward to sharing our early experiences and learning from others, especially my esteemed fellow panelists Beth Rabbitt Dacia Toll Chong-Hao Fu Matthew Wunder.

Some of my favorite work involves collaborating with great educators to "get in the weeds" and make sure that the lofty visions we hold are actually happening day to day in our schools and across systems. While I value autonomy, I also value coherence. Thank you to Matthew Riggan Workshop Learning, Neil Geyette Uschool Inc. for spending time creating a system of competencies across our schools and thanks to Claire Robertson-Kraft ImpactED for facilitating this work and to the The School District of Philadelphia for continuing to support the iteration and improvement of competency-based learning in Philadelphia. As the Aurora Institute blog highlights - humility and resilience are key levers for improvement and it has been great to work with a community of leaders who embrace those values! Thanks for highlighting this work Aurora Institute and for your continued leadership in the competency-based learning arena. https://lnkd.in/eQD2ZEt3
