With just one month to go until the 129th Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, a new fundraising record was set yesterday with more than $1.87 million being raised on #BostonMarathonGivingDay. Boston Marathon Giving Day encourages athletes and marathon supporters to raise meaningful funds for the 176 non-profits affiliated with the Bank of America Boston Marathon Official Charity Program. This is the highest ever single day of fundraising in the marathon’s history. To mark the day, representatives from the charity program’s 176 non-profit organizations attended a celebratory event at Bank of America in Boston with 2018 open women’s champion Des Linden, B.A.A. Chair of the Board Dr. Cheri Blauwet, MD, and Miceal Chamberlain, President, Bank of America Massachusetts in attendance. The fundraising efforts continue for all charity program participants, and you can support their causes at https://lnkd.in/eUi6xYuf.

Exciting news! Last weekend on March 9th, the Boston Athletic Association kicked off our 2025 B.A.A. Neighborhood Fitness Series presented by Boston Children's Hospital at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. This free event series is a cornerstone of our commitment to promoting health and wellness in our community for all ages and abilities. For years, the Boston Athletic Association has been dedicated to introducing and encouraging the sport of running to the Greater Boston area. Last year, the B.A.A. announced a significant partnership with the Reggie Lewis Center under the leadership of Michael Turner, a collaboration which has the goal of exceeding $1.3 million in value to support expansion of programming and opportunities at this facility. Why do we do this? Because at the B.A.A., we believe in the power of sports, especially running, to build healthy communities. It's been our mission since 1887, and it continues to drive us today. Let's kick off this fitness journey together and continue building a healthier, more active Boston!

We are excited to announce, alongside Meet Boston, the release of our independent economic impact report, conducted by the UMass Donahue Institute, revealing an impressive $509 million economic boost from the 2024 Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America. Through year-round and marathon-weekend spending, the historic race continues to draw in visitors from across the globe, bringing energy and investment into our Greater Boston communities. The impact of the marathon goes far beyond the finish line, supporting local businesses, creating community, and raising record levels of charitable donations. We’re proud of the marathon’s impact on our region and continue to look for ways to expand its impact to assure small and local businesses of all types will benefit from the influx of visitors to our region.
