  • Today is World Health Day, and the theme for 2025 is "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures"—a topic that hits close to home for so many of us. Black mothers and babies face some of the most challenging disparities in healthcare, from higher maternal mortality rates to lack of access to quality care. Maternal and newborn health means making sure that Black moms receive the care and support they deserve throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. It means ensuring safe births and healthy outcomes for our babies, and empowering our communities to break through barriers in healthcare. We’re happy to see the world focusing in on maternal health. We need policies that uplift Black moms, support equitable care, and prioritize their health in every stage of motherhood. 💜 #WorldHealthDay #MaternalHealth #BlackMothers #NewbornHealth #HealthEquity #BWHI

  • This National Minority Health Month, we’re focusing on the importance of generational health in Black communities. 🖤 Our health journeys are shaped by our past, but the actions we take today can create a foundation for future generations to thrive. Whether it’s improving access to healthcare, fostering better nutrition, or prioritizing mental well-being, we have the power to break cycles and build a healthier future for our children and grandchildren. BWHI is investing in Blac women's health and wellness, one generation at a time. #MinorityHealthMonth #GenerationalHealth #BlackWomensHealth #BWHI #TheImperative

  • With love and deep gratitude, we honor our President, Linda Goler Blount, MPH. For more than a decade, she has led BWHI with vision, purpose, and unapologetic passion for Black women’s health. She now steps into her next chapter at Community Catalyst—and we already know she’ll leave her mark there too. Our founder, Byllye Avery, laid the foundation. Linda built upon it and leaves behind an extraordinary legacy. Under her leadership, BWHI has grown into a national force and is stronger than ever. Now we’re carrying that work forward. This is a critical moment, and BWHI is ready for what’s ahead. The work continues. The vision expands. And the legacy lives on—because Black women’s health has never been more IMPERATIVE.
