🌟 Expanding our focus: Youth Mental Health 🌟    At GreenShield, we have a proven track record of tackling Canada's most urgent health issues. From our free Women’s Mental Health program to expanding access to Essential Medicines, our initiatives continue to deliver equitable, sustainable products and services to support equity-seeking and underserved Canadians. Recognizing the youth mental health crisis in Canada, where nearly 60% of young people in need not receiving care, we are committed to changing that. Our new initiative aims to transform support for youth mental health across the country.  📊 Fueled by data: We assess Canada’s most pressing health challenges, quantifying the disease burden and evaluating its impact across priority populations. 🤝 Strengthened by community partnerships: By uniting leading youth mental health organizations, we’re reaching youth facing distinct barriers to care, ensuring that no youth is left behind.   ⚡ Powered by best-in-class technology: Delivered through GreenShield+, our integrated health and benefits platform, this initiative is designed to address key barriers youth face to youth mental health support: care navigation, equitable access, and affordability.  Read the release to learn more. https://lnkd.in/gzguM4Ge #BetterHealthforAll #GreenShieldCares

➡ Key finding: Formal and informal complaints are regularly being used, maliciously and vexatiously, to harm Black leaders. 100% of completed investigations documented during the study were unfounded. Initially, this study was scheduled to wrap up in December 2023. But, during interviews, an unexpected finding arose: Black executives shared the tremendous distress they experienced navigating formal complaint processes they described as deliberately harmful and that were ultimately determined to be unfounded. At the same time, BEN-REN also began documenting these experiences from its members. As I undertook another 30 interviews (Phase 2 of the study) focused on complaints, Black employees continued to email me in distress – to date, another dozen. Black leaders were subjected to 18 to 24 month invasive investigations. After being removed from their leadership positions. And after experiencing extreme health impacts – lasting depression, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart and breathing problems, suicidality – all caused by a humiliating, exhausting, isolating, and unjust complaint process. Importantly, complainants were never punished. Rather, they simply moved on to another position or retired. In the entire study, a striking 50% of Black female executives shared these experiences. Haitian women and African executives reported in disproportionately high numbers. Black men also described devastating experiences with lengthy complaint processes.

Savyn’s partnership with The Northpine Foundation has enabled us on our goal to support refugee well-being and provide support on their healing journey. We are expanding our services to refugees across Canada by onboarding refugee agencies and their clients to access our digitized treatment. Recently, we've encountered a significant challenge: many of our clients from refugee agencies lack access to computers or laptops, hindering their ability to utilize our mental health platform services. If you have an old or unused laptop that you no longer need, we kindly ask you to consider donating it to support our refugee clients in accessing vital mental health resources. Your generosity can make a meaningful difference. We believe that every contribution counts, no matter how small. Together, we can empower refugees on their path to healing and resilience.
