A fantastic milestone in the journey toward innovative cancer treatments—well done, BriaCell Therapeutics Corp.!

This past weekend, I had the incredible honor of representing the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center at the UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball, an annual fundraiser for UNCF—the largest and most effective minority education organization in the U.S. UNCF actively supports 37 private historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and advocates for minority higher education. As the landscape of education funding continues to shift, scholarships and resources provided by organizations like UNCF are essential to ensuring that students have access to the opportunities they deserve. The Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center understands that investing in education isn’t just about supporting students—it’s about securing the future of our industries, workforce, and communities. I’m incredibly proud to represent them as they champion these impactful organizations and work to create lasting change. It was also a pleasure to see Patrick M. Oates, Ph.D., who co-chaired the event and had previously shared his expertise with Dobbins and Roxborough high school students during a panel at B₊labs last year, as well as Ken Lawrence , another co-chair, whom I had the privilege of working with during my time at Temple University. Seeing familiar faces dedicated to this cause made the night even more meaningful.

Calling All Artists! We are excited to announce the next chapter in our ongoing series of art installations at B₊labs—Beyond the Lens: Art and Science in Dialogue. After previous exhibitions that highlighted the work of local artists, this marks our first thematic collaboration blending the worlds of art and science in a dynamic new way. We’re inviting artists to come together with B₊labs residents and explore how these fields can inspire each other through creative collaboration. At our space, we strive to foster a dynamic intersection of community, art, and science. Alongside our new exhibition, we continue to showcase Emily Whitehead's photography and Warrior Art curated by the Emily Whitehead Foundation, which bring the patient voice into the heart of scientific discovery. These works offers a unique perspective, inspiring our environment where scientists are pushing boundaries to create transformative solutions. If you're an artist inspired by scientific concepts this is your opportunity to contribute to an inspiring, cross-disciplinary experience. Selected works will be displayed starting in May 2025 at the B₊labs space in the Cira Centre in Philadelphia. The application deadline is March 9, 2025. Go Birds, Go Science! 🦅 Yesterday, we turned our incubator into a full-blown B₊irds Brunch Pep Rally—because if there’s one thing we do best (besides groundbreaking science), it’s repping Philly loud and proud! We went all out with a brunch spread—waffles, eggs, and plenty of green treats to fuel up for game day. From the lab bench to the Linc, this city knows how to hustle—and we’re ALL IN on the Birds bringing that Lombardi back home! LET’S GOOOOO! 🦅

What a fantastic event at CYTO | PHL last night, hosted by BioBuzz! The launch of the new BioInnovation Series brought together a great panel, insightful discussions, and a powerful patient perspective from Bradley Watts that truly resonated. Matthew Burkhardt, Director of B₊labs, did a fantastic job moderating the panel and leading such an engaging conversation. Hats off to Bryan Kennedy and BioBuzz for bringing this vision to life—this series is sure to make a lasting impact on the biotech community!
