🏢 Project Spotlight: The Standard at Bloomington 🏢 Introducing The Standard at Bloomington, the largest off-campus housing development in Bloomington's history, designed to elevate student living at Indiana University. This premier community spans a seven-acre site and offers 1,061 beds across 454 units, complemented by 679 parking spaces. Comprising three interlinked buildings on a sloped terrain, the architectural design features building heights ranging from four to six stories, with elevated sky bridges facilitating internal circulation and maintaining an independent appearance for each structure. An interconnected sidewalk system seamlessly links the buildings to adjacent pathways, promoting pedestrian accessibility. Reflecting local Bloomington traditions, the project utilizes familiar materials in a relaxed and playful manner. Warm woods and reclaimed elements evoke the nostalgic feel of college athletics, creating an environment where both newcomers and lifelong Hoosiers feel at home. Exciting news from our D.C. practice site! The historic Cotton Annex building that was transformed into the luxurious Annex on 12th earned the title of Best Conversion in the Washington Business Journal's Best Real Estate Deals of 2024!🏆🏢 Originally built in 1936 for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this 120,000-square-foot building sat vacant for years. In 2021, Carmel Partners acquired the property with BKV Group providing the Conceptual Design for the redevelopment. Now, the Annex on 12th boasts 562 luxury apartments with top-tier amenities, while serving as a prime example of how vacant federal buildings can be successfully repurposed to meet modern housing needs. In a world of automation, Bear Robotics is helping to revolutionize our housing communities. From smart delivery robots that assist with package distribution to autonomous service bots that support senior living and multi-family developments, these cutting-edge machines enhance efficiency and elevate resident experiences. Great to see our design team members test out these machines in our Dallas practice site!
We had a wonderful time visiting with Todd and one of his Servi+ robots from Bear Robotics at our office. Our new robotic friend learned the layout of our studio within half an hour and moved freely around the office to assist with tasks we assigned. We even tested its safety features like stepping into its path and it adapted immediately. Thank you to Todd and Kathryn at Bear Robotics! BKV Group Bear Robotics
