New babies in the house! Mason and Megan can't recall which of their kids ran into their bedroom a recent Saturday morning and exclaimed, "There are two new babies in the house!" "Maybe it was Emma. Or was it Ellie? I just know they were excited," Mason said that afternoon. Late the night before, the Roses, a Better Together host family, volunteered to care for a brother and sister for the weekend while their mother stayed at Golisano Children's Hospital with their brother. "She had no one to care for them, and I knew our family could help," said Megan. Waking up to "new babies" in their house is not new for Emma, Ellie, Ava, and Brady. Megan is Better Together's CEO, and she, along with Mason, infuses into their family the nonprofit's efforts to support parents so children can thrive. "Hosting is an opportunity for our kids to not just see Mason and me helping but for them to help too. They get to share their time, learn about other kids, and have fun," said Megan between serving raspberries, baking muffins, and putting princess costumes on the girls. Brady, the oldest, shares his mom's perspective. "We get to help the kids while Better Together helps their parents," he said before zooming out of the house to ride scooters with Mason and the other kids. "I like it too," added Ellie, following Brady outside. Ava, the youngest Rose, didn't join the others in play. After finishing her last raspberry, she made her way to her parent's bedroom, climbed into Megan's lap, and gently helped the "new baby" fall asleep.
