Trust-Honesty-Empathy Making the World a Better Place one Best Friend at a Time

About us

Best Friend Friday was originally created to tackle the controversial question on Gallup's Employee Engagement Survey Q12, Item 10 “I have a Best Friend at work”. According to Gallup people who report they have a Best Friend at Work were: 43% more likely to report having received praise or recognition for their work in the last seven days. 37% more likely to report that someone at work encourages their development. 35% more likely to report coworker commitment to quality. 28% more likely to report that in the last six months, someone at work has talked to them about their progress. 27% more likely to report that the mission of their company makes them feel their job is important. 27% more likely to report that their opinions seem to count at work. 21% more likely to report that at work, they have the opportunity to do what they do best every day. It’s our belief that having Best Friends at work (BFAWs) is the foundation of a company’s culture. Best Friend Friday (BFF) is the day to celebrate BF’s at work. We do not just do this on Friday’s it’s a movement that we ask “what are you doing to be a Best Friend to someone”? BFF is a framework to drive change and improve relationships at work and beyond. It’s not just about our weekly BFF videos it’s about connecting with others and taking the action to be a best friend to someone. Our BFAW model is simple and it will create a stronger culture: Better Relationships - Fun - Action - Why. Take the BFF challenge today! BFF was started by Sam Queeno, Chief BFAW, who’s purpose in life is Striving to Make The World a Safer Place to Live, Work and Play®. Sam has spent his entire career in corporate security and is passionate about keeping people safe and believes companies that want a strong culture must put people first before anything and be relentless in their effort. Best Friend Friday This week I went outside our company to connect with my BFAW Rebecca Yakesh from Xcel Energy. Rebecca is a huge BFF supporter and I have been trying to get her on for years. We just happened to be together at the same meeting, and "by chance" I had my camera and she had her BFF swag and she was ready to roll. What I love about featuring outside BFAWs, is how they are spreading the message at their locations. We all need Best Friends in our lives and we may not see all of our BFAWs on a daily basis, but if you form those relationships when you do get to connect it's like you were never away from each other. #bestfriendfriday

Best Friend Friday It is a cross over event! We Care Wednesday, heads to Best Friend Friday! Sort of! In my mind it did, and it can only happen in Tulsa. This week I headed to PSO and met up with Shaun Raley who wanted to discuss Best Friends at Work and how having a Best Friend helps us to work safe. I found out that Shaun goes around and writes BFAW on white boards and talks about being your “brothers’ keepers”. We all have the ability to stop a job if we think it will hurt our Best Friends, so Shaun wanted to highlight that this week. After the video, Shaun showed me all the “toys” the Industrial Hygiene team uses to keep us safe. I see another We Care Wednesday in the future with this group! #bestfriendfriday

#WeCareWednesday brought to you by Best Friend Friday Post Written by: Dianna M. Tomlinson, M.S., CSP Hey everybody, I’m here today at the THE Central Maintenance Facility (CMF) in Shreveport, Louisiana, with one of my BFAWs, Matt Gorum. Matt is the Production Manager at CMF and he promised if I came to visit, he would teach me the safe way to lift big, heavy things. I made it to CMF and Matt had an induced draft (ID) fan hub ready to lift. That bad boy weighed about ten thousand pounds. (That’s five tons, friends!) Now, I had really put in some work at the gym, but I wasn’t sure I was ready to deadlift ten thousand pounds. I got ready and put on my new white gloves, squared my shoulders, was ready to lift with my legs (not my back) and then my BFAW Matt stepped in and stopped me. Instead of using my body to do the work or an undersized forklift, Matt had already got me all rigged up to use a ten-ton crane to lift the ID fan hub. I could tell Matt and his whole team there at CMF are professionals at this lifting heavy stuff business and they certainly prioritize safety in their lifting operations, which not only protects employees but also safeguards valuable equipment and materials. Matt reminded us all that pre-job planning and using the JSA to talk through the hazards of a job and address them is a must. We Care Because I Care

Best Friend Friday This week I met up with one of my most cherished BFAWs Julie Rutter, Esq. This was Julie's do over episode. She was on Season 3 and it needed to be done and in person! Julie is such an amazing person and one that I love to work with, one may even say my "work wife". I can say that because she is in HR and we have worked on WAY too many items together and still keep going at it. #bestfriendfriday #bestfriendfridaydoover

Best Friend Friday This week I headed to Shreveport, LA to meet up with Jamie Scantlin a self-proclaimed introvert. However, he has come to realize he needs to be around people and feels having Best Friends at Work makes work easier. I typically let our guests give out Sammy 🐻 but this week, I wanted to give Jamie one because not only has he been a great BFAW to many, he also is practicing one of our core principles at work to ensure a safe and secure workplace. #bestfriendfriday

Best Friend Friday This week I met up with Cameron Clark, who always has a smile on his face when I see him. Cameron talks with me about the importance of getting to know people at work and making Best Friends. He explains how everyone that works needs other people to get their own work done. It is not done in a silo. So connect with people at work, and you never know the relationships you will form. #bestfriendfriday

Best Friend Friday This week I met up with my boss Kristin Lowery to go fishing 🎣 Come to find out she was talking about Phishing, not the kind I was up for. Here in security our mission is to protect people, information, assets and our customers' way of life. One of the way we do that is to educate everyone on Phishing and the harm it can cause if you click on a link. Kristin and I wanted to explain how our BFAWs can work together to help each other on not getting phished and what better way to do that but on Best Friend Friday! #bestfriendfriday

#WeCareWednesday brought to you by Best Friend Friday Post written by BFAW Dianna M. Tomlinson, M.S., CSP I’m back with another episode of We Care Wednesday! On my way in this morning, I was getting hyped as I rocked out to a totally rad playlist of songs that included “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith, “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves, and “Walk Like an Egyptian” by the Bangles. (Admit it, you’re humming at least one of those songs now too, aren’t you?) I joined a couple of top-notch S&H professionals, Nelson Bartosiewicz and C.J. White, and they took me to school when it came to walking on slippery, wintery surfaces – it was me vs. the Slip Simulator. Nelson and C.J. took the time to talk to me about walking on slick surfaces and how doing so requires careful attention to avoid slips and falls. The Slip Simulator is a valuable training tool designed to enhance our safety awareness and improve walking techniques on slippery surfaces. It allows us to experience and practice how to navigate these hazardous situations safely. If you get the chance, check one out because you can gain hands-on experience in a low risk setting and learn about the importance of posture, balance, and proper foot placement. If nothing else, you can channel your inner Lou Reed and take a “Walk on the Wide Side.” We Care Because I Care
