There is certainly a lot of opportunity to message to consumers in China. The results of our joint survey with Shanghai Ocean University, University of Stirling and University of Copenhagen showed that Chinese consumers are really interested in seafood certification and looking for certified products in the marketplace. My very first assignment with Global Seafood Alliance was to start to work with the Chinese market to promote more responsible seafood sourcing policies. That was 10 years ago, and I'm excited to see the progress that has been made. There is still a long road ahead of us, but as I've often said, sustainability is a journey, not a destination.

Global Seafood Alliance's Steve Hart discusses the future of the BAP Feed Mill Standard: "All GSA stakeholders should know how seriously we take feed issues, as they reside at the intersection of fisheries and aquaculture. I am proud that GSA has incorporated responsible sourcing requirements into its standards and was an early adopter of adding certified soy and palm oil requirements. Added to the Feed Mill Standard in 2017, with an implementation date of June 2022, was a requirement that 50 percent of all soy and 100 percent of all palm oil sourced by BAP-certified feed mills needs to be from a certified soy or palm oil producer..."
