  • Lizbeth Moore has been named the Director of Bilingual Education for Bastrop ISD. This role ensures that the development and delivery of bilingual/ESL programs are effective and efficient, and supports student academic and linguistic achievement. She will begin her new position in mid-May. “I am truly honored and blessed to join Bastrop ISD and serve its incredible community. My life changed for the better thanks to the educators who believed in me and showed how deeply they cared. I hope to bring that same love, dedication, and attention to our students, families, and fellow educators,” said Moore. Moore brings a wealth of experience and a passion for bilingual education to her new role. Most recently, she served as Director of Bilingual/ESL/LOTE at Tyler ISD, where she led innovative programs that empowered multilingual learners. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Principal at both Arlington Collegiate High School and the Jones Academy of Fine Arts & Dual Language, making a mark in Arlington ISD with her leadership and commitment to student success. Her journey in education began in the classroom—as a 9th-grade Spanish teacher and a Bilingual Teacher for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. She first stepped into education as a Bilingual Paraprofessional in Grand Prairie ISD, laying the foundation for what has become an inspiring career in service of students and language learners. “We are thrilled to welcome Lizbeth Moore as our new Director of Bilingual Education. Her extensive experience and strong background in multilingual education make her an outstanding choice for this role. I’m excited to work alongside her as we continue the great work happening across our campuses,” said Jennifer Eberly, Chief Academic Officer. Moore holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with Early Childhood from the University of Texas at Arlington. She also holds an Associate's degree in EC-4 Early Childhood from the Dallas College Richland Campus. During her time away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their son, who loves exploring the outdoors.

  • At Cedar Creek Middle School and across Bastrop ISD, we believe in pushing students to be their best — even when they haven’t realized their full potential yet. Principal Riza Cooper is one of many campus leaders encouraging students to take on new challenges, like enrolling in honors classes, and the results speak for themselves: academic growth, a big boost in confidence, and even high school credit by the end of 8th grade! "When you give students access to a higher level curriculum, they are going to stand up and meet that challenge and meet those expectations," says Cooper. This is just one of the many ways BISD is investing in the future of our students.
