The new Inova Health Center – Oakville in Alexandria, Virginia has opened its doors to provide emergency care, imaging, ambulatory surgery to the growing neighborhood and beyond. Designed by Ballinger and Ennead Architects and completed in late 2024, this 100,000-square-foot center is part of Inova's initiative to expand healthcare services in Northern Virginia. A standout feature is the building's green roof and amenity deck that help contribute to the overall sustainability goals of Inova Health. These spaces not only enhance the aesthetics but also support environmental health by reducing stormwater runoff and promoting biodiversity. 14,600 square feet of critical hospital space is being protected with the Garden Roof® and Ultimate Assembly® with an additional 19,600 square feet of plaza waterproofing anchored by Hydrotech® Monolithic Membrane 6125®. In 2019, as Duke University neared its centennial, it faced a pressing challenge: its rapid expansion was approaching a critical threshold. In response, the Duke facilities team devised a strategic plan with Ballinger, RFD, and John Milner Associates to develop a nine-building, comprehensive facility renewal and program enhancement plan. The result of this inclusive and thorough process was a $1 billion+ plan that is envisioned to take place over a 10 to 15-year period and guide numerous philanthropic endeavors at the university. World Quantum Day is celebrated annually on April 14th. TenBerke in collaboration with Ballinger, is designing the Upper Science Hill Development at Yale University. The 611,000 SF complex will be an intellectual hub and world-class environment for quantum science, engineering, and materials initiatives. The University of Michigan Dance Building was designed with both acoustic performance and architectural aesthetics in mind, ensuring an environment attuned to a wide range of dance styles, including screen dance, hip-hop, ballet, and jazz. Each of these performance styles relies on precise noise and vibration control, and the highly responsive environments maintain noise separation, mechanical and electrical noise control, adaptive sound system design, natural spatial acoustical feedback, and spatial isolation for fine-tuned acoustical excellence.
