"Your lack of planning isn't my emergency." Most of us haven't just heard this phrase, we've lived it. That urgent request from a colleague can ruin your day. You can’t control the karma the universe (or Jen in Sales) throws at you. But you can control how you meet it. Just because someone else is stressed, doesn't mean that your day needs to spiral too. The next time urgency lands in your inbox with five exclamation points, try this three-step approach: 1. Pause and breathe (even just for 10 seconds) 2. Ask yourself: "Is this actually mine to solve?" 3. Consider what response will truly help the situation, not just feed the panic What are the odds that this "emergency" is actually going to end the planet if you don't drop everything right now? Pause. Breathe. Is this mine to solve? I've found that bringing a clear mind to a stressed environment isn't just self-care, it's a professional superpower. Swipe through to see a framework for staying centered when everyone else is spiraling. What's your go-to response when someone tries to make their emergency yours? #MindfulnessAtWork #EmotionalIntelligence #WorkplaceWellness #AwakeAtWork #BoundarySettings

"Look at me juggling six things at once!" (While doing none of them particularly well.) The truth? Multi-tasking feels productive in the moment, but the results are usually less than stellar. My typical Monday morning looked like this: Start writing an important email... Get distracted by a notification... Check calendar for a meeting time... 30 minutes later, realize my original email is still sitting unsent. Recently, I've been practicing mono-tasking, that is, giving my full attention to one thing at a time. Here's what the rub: we don't have enough time to do everything we could ever want to do. But we DO have time to make the one task in front of us something worth our while. Mono-tasking isn't just more efficient, it gives dignity to the person in front of us and our work. When I'm fully present in a conversation, I'm saying "you matter." When I focus on writing, I'm honoring the ideas that deserve to be expressed well. What's one task today that deserves your full, undivided attention? #AwakeAtWork #MindfulWork #MonoTasking #WorkplaceMindfulness

I’ve been thinking about how much wisdom gets lost when we confuse confidence with volume... We need more spaces where thoughtful contribution is valued, not just volume. Silence isn’t a lack of engagement, it’s a sign of deep processing. Some of the most powerful insights come from the quietest corners of the room. Let’s build cultures that listen for them. Have you ever felt overlooked because you weren’t the loudest voice?
Silence isn’t a lack of engagement — it’s often a sign of deep reflection. I’ve worked for companies — and alongside managers — who seemed to only value the loudest voice in the room. Meetings often turned into performance stages, where hijacking conversations was mistaken for leadership. I don’t want that anymore. I’ve learned to value introspection, thoughtful contribution, and creating space for quieter voices to be heard. The ones who process before they speak often bring the most meaningful insights — not just noise. It’s usually better to think without speaking than to speak without thinking. As leaders, colleagues, and collaborators, let’s create space for all thinking styles. Silence might not be empty — it might just be full of ideas waiting to emerge. #Leadership #SelfAwareness #TeamCulture #Communication #MindfulWork #InclusiveLeadership

At the risk of being very cheesy, it's called the present because it's a gift. Presence is one of the most productive things we can allow ourselves. Whether it’s sunsets or screen breaks, stillness has a way of showing us what all the noise was covering up. What helps you come back to center?
Sunset: the world’s quiet way of saying, “pause here.” I know how full it gets—your mind juggling ideas, projects, deadlines, life. And laundry. 🧺🙈 (Mine? Overflowing and somehow always waiting. 😅) And with so much in motion, it’s easy to get caught in the momentum of doing. But sometimes clarity doesn’t come from more effort. It comes from stillness. From light. From noticing where you are—not just where you’re headed. Creativity, strategy, insight— they all need space to land. And sometimes presence is the most productive thing we can allow ourselves. What brings you back to center? ✨Lola Abrera ✨ #CreativeThinking #MindfulWork #CreativeLife #BrandStrategy #EmotionalIntelligence

When was the last time you caught yourself on auto-pilot? Let's be real, the long list of tasks and deadlines can make us forget that we're not just work-completing automatons, we're people. And those people might collapse on the couch for hours after shutting the laptop for the night. Confession: I spent 20 minutes yesterday staring at my screen, accomplishing absolutely nothing except aging. We've all been there. The corporate world treats us like we're just brains with hands attached—but we have bodies that need movement, hearts that need connection, and spirits that need acknowledgment. What's one small practice you might try this week to feel more human between meetings? Drop your own ideas in the comments! 🌿☁️

For a long time, I treated rest like dessert. Only after I’d worked hard enough. Only if I’d earned it. But here’s the truth: Rest is not a reward, it’s a requirement. We have to live every single day of our lives, not just the ones at the finish line. There’s no guarantee the destination will deliver the happiness we planned for. Life is happening now, not after the project wraps. If I’m working on something big, rest isn’t optional, it’s part of the process. Because the work is hard enough without running on empty. How do you build in rest before burnout hits? #SustainableWork #RestIsProductive #TheMindfulProfessional #WorkCulture #BurnoutRecovery #WorkMindfully

Ever notice how the loudest person in the meeting isn't always right? Confidence and certainty feel similar but aren't the same thing. I've known people who spoke with absolute conviction while being completely off-base. Meanwhile, quiet colleagues often had the insight necessary to move a project forward. We're told to "trust our gut" like it's some infallible compass. But sometimes my gut is just replaying old fears or biases dressed up as intuition. I've made decisions I was certain about that turned out to be spectacularly wrong. As meditation teacher Joseph Goldstein says: "Certainty is not an indication of truth." Last week, I caught myself shutting down a teammate's idea because I was "sure" it wouldn't work. Midway through my explanation, I realized I wasn't actually listening – I was defending my position. The next time you feel 100% sure about something, maybe ask: What am I defending? What am I afraid to question? True confidence isn't about having all the answers. It's about being secure enough to say "I might be wrong" and meaning it. What about you? When was the last time certainty tricked you? #MindfulnessAtWork #EmotionalIntelligence #LeadershipDevelopment #SelfAwareness #ModernWorkplace

I need to “think it through”. How many times have you found yourself saying that to yourself? This week? This month? But, what does “thinking it through” actually mean? ❓Are you actually setting aside time to weigh a decision carefully? ❓Are you seeking mentorship, counsel, or guidance from a trusted source? ❓Are you thinking through the benefits? The costs? The risks? Or, are you waiting for a magical feeling of “certainty” to descend before you decide? When I reflect back on some of the best decisions I ever made in life, one theme is constant. I was never 100% certain my decision was going to yield success. Certainty is not an indication of truth, as my wise mentor Joseph Goldstein taught me. But I was 100% clear on what felt truthful, congruent, and aligned. Clarity trumps certainty. Today, as you think about what decisions you need to “think through”, consider asking yourself these 3 questions: What am I clear about? What would I like to have happen? What matters most to me about this decision? Final tip: time-box your decision. Don’t leave it open-ended or you’ll be “thinking it through” 6 months from now. #decisionmaking #ceo #chro #executive #leadership

Have you ever been in a meeting where everyone seemed more interested in being right than in helping? ☁️ Intellectual humility—the practice of staying open to being wrong—isn't just a nice idea. It's a competitive advantage in our complex work environments. Research by Dr. Carol Dweck shows it's closely connected to growth mindset, while studies from Amy Edmondson link it to psychological safety and team performance. It's not about being indecisive. It's about creating space for better decisions, healthier collaboration, and stronger relationships. What meeting could use a little more intellectual humility this week? Drop a 🧠 if you're committed to bringing more openness to your next team discussion. #MindfulnessAtWork #IntellectualHumility #GrowthMindset #CollaborativeLeadership #PsychologicalSafety #AwakeAtWork #EvidenceBasedWorkplace
