Rest for Our Heroes: Firefighters at Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 19 put everything on the line during the recent Los Angeles Wildfires—not just battling flames, but enduring long, exhausting shifts with limited resources. After the Palisades Fire, Station 19 was left with smoke and ash residue throughout the station. For the health and safety of its firefighters, the entire station had to be professionally remediated, and anything that could potentially contain toxic residue—including their mattresses—was discarded. We were honored to step in and donate new mattresses, ensuring these heroes have a safe and comfortable place to rest after their grueling shifts. As a proud platinum sponsor of this year’s City Harvest “Repack to Give Back” campaign, we were honored to help contribute with both donations and our time. Avocado employees could volunteer at the City Harvest Food Rescue Center in Sunset Park to help repack seasonal fresh produce into family-sized portions for distribution. All the portioned food is then sent to their food pantry partners helping feed New Yorkers in need.
