In recognition of the start of Child Abuse Prevention Month, our staff placed pinwheels on the front lawn this afternoon. The pinwheel is the symbol for child abuse prevention and represents the nearly 20,000 youth the Atlanta Area Council works to serve each day.

We are pleased to announce that Joshua Cole has been promoted to the position of Senior District Executive at Michigan Crossroads Council in Detroit, Michigan! Joshua began his Scouting career as a District Executive serving the Appalachian Trail District in May 2021. He was promoted to the Lead District Executive for Appalachian Trail in March 2023 and District Director in April 2024. During his time in the Atlanta Area Council, Josh has made many contributions to the volunteers, youth, and the community. His most recent accomplishment was participating in an “Okpik” winter trek at Northern Tier High Adventure Base with Troop 8880. Joshua is a native of northeast Mississippi and moved to Atlanta in May 2021. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications. Josh is a lifelong Scouter with several years of Scouting experience, both as a youth and adult volunteer. He is an Eagle Scout, Brotherhood Order of the Arrow member, and has completed Wood Badge and Powder Horn training. He attended the 2013 National Scout Jamboree, 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference, 2018 National Order of the Arrow Conference, and 2019 OA Trail Crew at Philmont Scout Ranch.
