We know this is a challenging time of uncertainty, and we understand that navigating these changes can feel overwhelming. As we all work to adapt, it’s important to stay informed about the latest developments that may impact our communities and the individuals we serve. ASAH is closely monitoring this development to see what impact it will have on the enforcement of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and will keep our members informed. Yesterday, the NJ State Assembly held public hearings on the FY 2026 State Budget. The Legislature reviews and adjusts the Governor’s Budget through hearings and makes changes based on revenue estimates. The Budget must be approved by the Senate and Assembly, then signed by the Governor. The final Budget becomes the Appropriations Act and guides fiscal control for the year. ASAH’s Executive Director testified about the fourth straight year of flat funding for 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐢𝐝, which will reduce funding for students with disabilities. #specialeducation #newjersey #teachersofnj
