According to a recent report released by the The Aluminum Association and the Can Manufacturers Institute, nearly 97% of recycled aluminum beverage cans in the U.S. go on to become a new can in less than two months on average. At Arconic’s Tennessee Operations, enough can sheet rolls through the plant’s 15-story high accumulator to produce more than 20,000 beverage cans every minute. And since 73% of every can's content is recycled aluminum, every can you recycle has a REAL impact. #WeAreArconic #EarthMonth #REALPlanet

Chris Ayers, Arconic CEO, is a proud alumnus of Georgia Tech, where he launched his career journey with an education in aerospace engineering. Looking for a great place to build your career? Join us: https://lnkd.in/d8WvCR6i
Great visit to Pittsburgh with Chris Ayers (AE 1988 MSAE 1989) a Georgia Tech alumnus whose journey is a true testament to perseverance. When Chris arrived at Georgia Tech, he didn’t have a calculus background, making his first semester especially tough. But instead of being discouraged, Chris embraced the challenge, determined to succeed. His grit paid off when he switched from nuclear engineering to aerospace engineering, where the high standards of professors like Virgil Smith pushed him to excel. Chris’ first job was with Pratt and Whitney in Jupiter, Florida, where he worked on the low-pressure turbine for the F-22 engines. Later, he made the bold decision to transition from engineering to manufacturing, despite many questioning his choice. But Chris’s talent for fixing machinery quickly made him invaluable, and he found great satisfaction in work that allowed him to help others. Georgia Tech taught him how to work hard and solve problems—skills that became the foundation of his career. His drive ultimately led him to become CEO of Arconic. Chris’ journey reflects the determination and resilience that so often defines Georgia Tech alumni. It was inspiring to hear how he overcame early challenges and how those experiences shaped his leadership style. 🚀: ae.gatech.edu/give #GTaerospace #georgiatech #GTalumni #aerospace #engineering

Fun fact for #EarthMonth! Since 2009, two bald eagles named Liberty and Justice have been living on the Arconic Davenport Works plant property. In their 7-foot nest in a tree near the Mississippi River, the pair have hatched and fledged 18 eaglets, with two additional eaglets recently hatching. A livestream eagle cam provides 24/7 access for anyone to view Liberty and Justice feed and nurture their eaglets in this unique ecosystem. Employees and the local community will help select names for the new eaglets soon. We are proud that our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability is helping conserve our precious natural resources.
