About us
Founded in 1982, Anchor Center for Blind Children staff have taught visually impaired infants, young children and families, for over 32 years—providing hope and a nurturing environment where children reach their highest potential. Housed in a beautiful, architecturally modern building in Stapleton, Anchor Center is designed to address the unique learning styles of young children with vision impairments. Walk in the door and find specialized lighting, acoustics and a myriad of textures that help children find their way around. A stroll through the sensory gardens will delight all visitors as they experience bright colors, interesting textures and pleasing scents. Children from birth through five and their families are served at this magical place. Parents begin their journey by attending programs where they and their babies learn to simply enjoy each other and get used to seeing the world using senses other than vision. By the time children turn into toddlers they, like all children, begin to think the world revolves around them. Parents begin to step back and let their children take the lead. Observers of the preschool will see rambunctious children navigating their way using canes and utilizing early Braille skills to read. Learn more at www.anchorcenter.org

Last week we had the privilege of welcoming Colorado's Governor, Jared Polis and Lisa Roy, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, to Anchor Center! Our preschoolers and staff loved meeting these dynamic advocates who are committed to making quality early childhood education accessible for every child in Colorado. At Anchor Center, we’re proud to offer a specialized, inclusive preschool program for young children with visual impairments, alongside their sighted peers, ensuring that every child has the support they need to thrive. Thank you, Governor Polis and Dr. Roy, for championing early childhood inclusive education and supporting our vision of a bright future for all Colorado children! #UniversalPreK #EarlyChildhoodEducation #AnchorCenter

On this #ThankfulThursday, we’re extending our heartfelt gratitude to Waterpik Oral Health and Church & Dwight Co., Inc. for their transformative support! For a second year, they have provided a generous grant in support of Colorado’s young children with visual impairments, helping them gain vital skills for lifelong confidence and independence. Thanks to Church & Dwight, we’re able to provide individualized cane training, orientation, and mobility instruction—equipping each child to navigate their world safely and independently. Their support also fuels our Home Visit Program, which brings expert guidance and support directly to families whose children are too medically fragile or who live too far away to join us on-site. This program is a lifeline for these families, offering personalized strategies to nurture each child’s growth in their everyday environment. Thank you, Church & Dwight, for helping us make a lasting impact on these children’s lives and for believing in the potential of every child we serve! #GratefulPartners #BuildingIndependence #AnchorCenter

WOW! We had the pleasure of welcoming Santiago’s Mexican Restaurants/Santiago’s Charities leadership and staff as they presented Anchor Center with an incredible gift - a check for over $450,000! We are profoundly humbled and deeply grateful for their extraordinary generosity and partnership. This gift was the result of months of work by Santiago’s incredible team. Over 27 locations offered various ways for their customers, business partners and staff to contribute, including “round up and the register” options, candy bar sales and their annual Santiago’s Charity Golf Tournament and Auction. Their commitment to giving back is truly inspiring and we are honored to have been a part of their “faithfully authentic” mission! The impact these funds will have on the lives of the children and families we serve will be truly transformative. To show our appreciation, our students presented thank you cards and performed a special thank you song to express our collective gratitude. Thank you Santiago’s!! #santiagoscharities #santiagosmexicanrestaurants #seelifedifferently #visualimpairment #thankyou @santiagos_mexican_restaurants
