Even the most sound strategies are being put to the test. This is particularly true in manufacturing. Too often, strategy is a haughty, ambiguous term. In my work with executive teams, I find that priorities help. These are a more natural way of thinking about strategic intent. I’m incredibly excited to announce some groundbreaking research. I partnered with Association of Manufacturers Bay Area to conduct a unique study. We surveyed association members to best understand their strategic priorities. I’m pictured holding our report. 🚨 NEW EPISODE: I’m back! 🚨 I haven’t posted in a while because life got very full — between studying at Harvard Business School and coming home to a major business expansion at Silicon Valley Elite Manufacturing, Inc, it’s been nonstop. But I’m back on the mic with Episode 34 of Making Things Fun, Cool & Sexy Podcast—and it’s one of the most inspiring stories I’ve had the chance to tell. I visited Bret Harte Middle School in Hayward, CA and met with two rockstar educators, Edgar Monroy and Evelina Elwood, who are changing the game for STEM education. They’ve built a makerspace after-school program with laser cutters, 3D printers, and hands-on equipment that lets students make real things. It's like a mini R&D lab right inside a public middle school. Even more powerful—Mr. Monroy applied for and secured a $75,000 grant from AWS to fund all of this, because the school district doesn’t provide the equipment. I got to speak with the students—and one of them designed a custom ornament for me while another 3D printed my name. 🥹 Mr. Monroy also shared that girls are more likely to pursue STEM if they’re exposed in middle school. This is how we build a strong and diverse manufacturing workforce—by starting young, and giving students the tools to dream big. 🎧 Watch Episode 34 now to hear the full story.
