  • Ever wonder how we ensure your water stays clean and safe? At ACSA, we work around the clock to provide high-quality, reliable drinking water straight to your tap. Our water comes from local rivers and reservoirs and is treated at five advanced water treatment plants operated by Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority (RWSA). Once the water arrives at a treatment plant, it goes through a multi-step filtration and disinfection process. A coagulant is added to help tiny particles stick together, and the water is mixed before flowing through flocculation and sedimentation basins, where larger particles sink and are removed. From there, it passes through several large filters to eliminate any remaining microscopic impurities. Finally, chlorine is added to disinfect the water, and the pH is adjusted before it reaches your faucet—clean, safe, and ready to use! Our regular water quality testing is published annually in our water quality reports. Stay tuned–this year’s reports will be released in late spring! 📸 Rivanna Authorities #AlbemarleCountyServiceAuthority #AlbemarleVA

  • Exciting news, Crozet! Our Phase 4 Water Main Replacement Project is nearing the finish line. This project is making major strides in replacing undersized and aging asbestos-cement and PVC water mains—ensuring a stronger, more reliable water system for the community. This investment is all about keeping Crozet’s water system safe, efficient, and built to last. Final pavement restoration along Crozet Avenue is coming this spring—thank you for your patience as we put on the finishing touches! 👏 📸 Check out some behind-the-scenes shots from the project! #AlbemarleCountyServiceAuthority #AlbemarleVA

  • You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers! This year, we’re working on our new Avon Operations Center. Q: What will the Avon Center be used for? A: The Avon Operations Center will enhance ACSA’s efficiency with expanded maintenance space, ensuring we keep up with Albemarle County’s growth. Hands-on training areas will help our team stay sharp and collaborate effectively. Plus, with solar panels and EV charging stations, the facility is designed for a more sustainable future! Q: How is this project being funded? A: The ACSA operates as an independent utility authority, and our projects are funded through service fees paid by our customers. This project is not funded through any local, state or federal taxes. Q: Where will the Avon Center be located? A: The development is located between Avon Street Extended and Founders Place, adjacent to the Monticello Fire Department. This project will include a specialized training area for confined space and trench/excavation safety, supporting joint training efforts with Albemarle County Fire Rescue. Q: What sustainability measures are being taken during this project? A: While tree clearing was necessary for the development, we took a conservation-based approach to minimize impact, preserve natural areas, and ensure compliance with federal requirements for this facility. The finished site will also include EV chargers and solar panels. Q: When will the Avon Center be complete? A: The expected completion date for this project is September 2026. Stay tuned for updates! #AlbemarleCountyServiceAuthority #AlbemarleVA

  • Happy World Water Day! Water is essential to our health, our environment, and our daily lives—but it’s a resource we can’t take for granted. Here’s a few fast facts: 💧 Your body is about 60% water—staying hydrated is key to keeping you healthy and energized! 💧 97% of Earth’s water is saltwater. Only 3% is freshwater, and even less is easily accessible for drinking! 💧 A single dripping faucet can waste over 3,000 gallons of water per year—that’s enough for 180+ showers! At ACSA, we’re committed to providing clean, safe, and reliable water to our community while promoting smart water use. Join us in protecting this precious resource—every drop counts! How do you appreciate water in your daily life? Let us know in the comments! #AlbemarleCountyServiceAuthority #AlbemarleVA

  • Join us in celebrating our Employee of the Month, Chris Ragland! 🎉 As a Utility Worker II in our maintenance department, Chris is the go-to guy for tackling tough jobs with a can-do attitude. His nomination highlights his strong work ethic and willingness to take on any challenge to get the job done right. • For Water Crew Leader Jason Thomas, a #DayInTheLife at ACSA is an adventure in pipes, problem-solving and protecting our water system! After 23 years at ACSA, Jason knows the ins and outs of keeping our operations running smoothly. He oversees crews’ daily tasks, manages service requests and ensures work orders are completed efficiently. A typical day involves working on service lines, upgrading setters and tackling special projects—like his current focus on the exclusion meter project. Jason will soon kick off a major Capital Improvement Project on Myrtle Street in Crozet. His team will replace an aging PVC water main with a more durable ductile iron pipe as part of our ongoing effort to upgrade infrastructure. What many people don’t see is the extra care his crew provides—when they encounter leaks on private property during repairs, they often help customers by fixing them on the spot. Jason enjoys mentoring new team members and helping them succeed. When he’s not in the field, you can find him in his shop, tinkering with and rebuilding vehicles—because problem-solving isn’t just a job, it’s a passion. #AlbemarleCountyServiceAuthority #AlbemarleVA
