It’s time to build the core - welcome to Part 2 of our "Building with Akka" series! In this part of our Customer Registry Application journey, we're getting into the heart of things - Domain Model and Entity. Here’s what we cover: 🔸 How to model customer data using immutable records (because safety and clarity > chaos) 🔹 How to define and handle domain events for customer operations 🔸 How to implement an event-sourced entity that keeps customer state consistent and traceable With real code examples and guidance from #Scalac's developer Nicola Atzei, you’ll learn how to design a clean, future-proof domain layer that speaks the language of your business. Whether you're building your first event-sourced service or just refining your #Akka game - this one’s for you. 👉 Check out Part 2 now - link is in the comments! #BuildingwithAkka

2 engineers built an AI-powered call center to serve small enterprises and professional offices MrCall'𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 A 2-person dev team needed to build an AI-powered call center solution that:   • Could scale reliably   • Handle multiple complex interactions concurrently   • Remove complexity 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻   • 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Akka abstracts much of the complexity of the backend system, enabling the small team to focus on its business logic while Akka handles the rest.   • 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: The system responds in real time with human-level AI responses to each phone call.   • 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: The original application scales to address a rapidly growing customer call volume, without any code or infrastructure changes required. 𝗠𝗿𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀   • 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Scale to hundreds of customers with a team of two people.   • 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: A seamless experience with no lag in voice response for thousands of concurrent instances.   • 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Eliminated coding and maintenance of concurrency, fault tolerance, and distribution. 📢 Exciting news! We're launching our "Building with Akka" series. The first two parts are live right now! In the very first season of the series (yes, we’re building a franchise out of this 😁), we're showing you how to build a robust Customer Registry Application using the latest Akka platform features. This is no "I think this works" code. Just pure, production-ready solution that'll make your distributed systems actually... distribute. 😊 We're building a real-world application that showcases Akka's event sourcing, CQRS, and high-performance capabilities. Whether you're an #Akka veteran or just starting, thanks to Nicola Atzei, the author of the guide and Scalac's very own developer, there's something here for everyone! Check out what we've covered in the first two parts: Introduction 🔸Learn how Akka helps manage the complexity of distributed systems 🔹Discover how Akka 3 makes actor programming more accessible with its new SDK 🔸Find out how to build high-performance systems that handle up to one million TPS Part 1: Project Setup 🔹Get hands-on with the powerful Akka CLI for project management 🔸Set up a Customer Registry with complete event sourcing capabilities 🔹Learn CQRS patterns for efficient data management and querying Stay tuned for the next part, where we'll dive into domain modeling and entities - links to the Introduction and Part 1 are in the comments. 🖖 #BuildingwithAkka

    Better data, better decisions

When Developer Joy Meets Cutting-Edge Tech 🤗 Reflecting on an illuminating first day at #QCon by InfoQ, the Senior Software Engineering Conference, I'm attending with Mohammad Reza Moattar. I'll share some highlights from the talks I attended, which coalesced around the 'Architectures you've always wondered about' and 'Engineering productivity' tracks: - Dr. Kenneth Harris II delivered an energizing keynote on #NASA's James Webb Space Telescope #JWST engineering journey, yielding a *13 Billion Year Old Photograph* - LinkedIn's team working on their Hiring Agent dove into Agentic AI architectures and integrating them into the user experience - Akka showed how distributed computing principles are being applied laterally to AI - Fascinating session on Meta's Orion AR Glasses, where I learned about the co-design challenges of novel software and hardware integration - How to nurture Developer Joy in your teams for creativity by Trisha Gee (Gradle Inc.) and Holly Cummins I'm looking forward to exploring the 'AI and ML for Software Engineer' track on Day 2! Particularly on practical LLM implementation patterns, use-cases and stories. If you're attending as well, I would love to connect so please give me a message. #SoftwareEngineering #DataEngineering #AI #Architecture #LLM #RAG #AgenticAI #DevEx #DeveloperProductivity #DevOps
