As our President and CEO Terry Shaw prepares for his retirement, we are grateful to share exciting news about the future of AdventHealth. Our Board of Directors has appointed David Banks as our next President and CEO, starting today. Throughout his 30+ years at AdventHealth – including most recently as Group CEO of our Primary Health and Multi-State Divisions and as Chief Strategy Officer – David has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to our mission and brand promise to help those we serve feel whole. Through David’s vision and leadership, we are excited about our future to elevate our faith-based, consumer-focused, clinical care in the communities we serve. Did you know that The Church of the Resurrection has a Recovery Ministry program which consists of more than 20 groups across seven locations and is funded solely through grants and donations? As part of our community impact end-of-year giving campaign, AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, which has been a long-standing provider of mental health services to Johnson County, donated $20,000 to the Recovery Ministry program. This donation will allow Resurrection Recovery to provide transportation, treatment referrals, therapy, rent, personal hygiene care, and dental health to attendees. Additionally, fundraising efforts in partnership with the AdventHealth Kansas City Foundation continue at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, with the goal of growing our spaces and resources to meet the growing demand for mental health services in our community. Today, we celebrated the grand opening of the Medical Office Building at AdventHealth Lenexa City Center! This space represents the first step in a larger plan to create a comprehensive healthcare campus that will serve our community for years to come. This new 56,000-square-foot facility is attached the the hospital, offering convenient access to care and our team of experts. We are excited to continue our care for the Lenexa community and welcome them to this new state-of-the-art campus.

Behavioral Health team members from AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, which has provided 50 years of behavioral health services in Johnson County, participated in Kansas Mental Health Advocacy Day at the Statehouse in Topeka. Our leaders visited with state legislators, including Rep. Linda Featherston and Senator Ethan Corson about the need for access and to treat mental health in the same manner as expected with physical health. We appreciate the opportunity to have dialogue with lawmakers about the importance of increasing behavioral health services through more psychiatric beds, reimbursement parity and support for involuntary admitted Kansas patients in Emergency Departments. This week we celebrated Certified Nurses Day. It is a time to recognize nurses who have attained specialty certification showcasing their commitment to providing high-quality patient care. This day honors the ongoing education, skill development and professionalism that certified nurses demonstrate in their field. Thank you for your critical role in healthcare. This week marked a momentous occasion as the AdventHealth Lenexa City Center Medical Office Building officially opened its doors to patients! AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at Lenexa City Center and PT Solutions have moved into the new space and are now serving patients. This milestone represents a significant leap forward in the construction and development of AdventHealth Kansas City's newest campus.
