If your organization has employees behind the wheel, 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸—𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Every year, thousands of lives are lost due to preventable crashes, and organizations face higher insurance costs, legal risks, and reputational damage when employees drive distracted. Leaders must take action to ensure employees and the motoring public are safe. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀: 1. Have your team sign a pledge to “Just Drive.” 2. Ensure no one in your company calls drivers while they're driving, absent an emergency. 3. Share driver cell phone numbers only with properly trained personnel. 4. Allow drivers latitude. If they have a pressing personal situation, encourage them pull to over. 5. Employ technology that detects cell phone usage and develop a corrective action plan. Leadership drives safety — and few understand that better than Robert L. Sumwalt Acrisure’s Brian Fielkow recently had the distinct pleasure of connecting with Robert, former Chairman of National Transportation Safety Board and current Executive Director of The Boeing Center for Aviation & Aerospace Safety at Embry-Riddle Robert, who wrote the Foreword to Leading People Safely — a book co-authored by Brian — engaged in a timely and thought-provoking discussion about the essential role leadership plays in shaping safety outcomes. Together, they reflected on recent high-profile incidents and the leadership lessons they offer for organizations across all industries. We are proud to be part of these important conversations at the intersection of leadership, risk, and safety. #Leadership #SafetyCulture #RiskManagement #AviationSafety
