About us

A History of Local Service For years, ACI Chapters have been meeting the concrete information needs of local concrete practitioners. Chapters bridge the technology exchange between the local concrete construction market and ACI International. ACI Chapters offer unique opportunities to learn more about your industry. Networking Many Chapter members say that the most important benefit realized from membership in a local ACI Chapter is the opportunity to rub shoulders with leading-edge practitioners in their own market area. From engineers to product suppliers, almost every discipline in concrete construction can be seen at a Chapter meeting or event. Chapters often host events that allow you to meet world-renown experts in design, construction, materials, and standards development. Recognition Your peers in concrete construction are probably already members of one or more ACI Chapter. Join them and be recognized as someone committed to improving concrete construction in your area by joining a local Chapter. Help with training and education programs, awards dinners, certification exams, and social events. Your new friends will thank you and your career will benefit greatly. Get to know the people that keep concrete construction moving ahead, and be recognized for your efforts.

  • Special Presentation: Jointless Floor Construction March 11, 2025 - 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM Register:https://lnkd.in/dk3PJ-9Q The ACI Greater Michigan Chapter, together with our meeting sponsor, MAPEI Corporation, invite you to join us Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, for a presentation titled Jointless Floor Construction. This presentation will discuss a proven technology for producing shrinkage-compensated concrete, where a high degree of dimensional stability is required to prevent shrinkage cracks in structures. This system is based on the principle that shrinkage may be restrained by a structural reinforcement system. This system denotes a complete range of products able to control the chemical and physical processes within concrete over time. By selecting the right quantity of suitable admixtures, the amount of shrinkage in concrete may be calculated and, therefore, controlled. The system, which guarantees a reduction in the level of shrinkage cracks, reduces the number of weak points in the concrete and increases its durability, thereby extending the service life of the structure. This system has been successfully used in various construction projects, including in areas with structural requirements. Speaker: Andy O’Brian is the CFS Product Line Manager at Mapei Corporation, where he specializes in delivering innovative solutions for the industrial concrete industry. With over two decades of experience in industrial concrete flooring and pavements, Andy has worked extensively across North America, bringing expertise in armored joints, steel fibers, advanced floor repair technologies, and other specialty products for high performance industrial floors. Previously, Andy served as Vice President of Sales at Performance Structural Concrete Solutions, where he played a pivotal role in driving the adoption of niche products for industrial applications. His extensive industry knowledge, combined with a focus on quality and performance, makes him a trusted leader in the field.
