Behind every overdose statistic is a story shaped by more than just biology. Contrary to what many people believe, the opioid crisis didn’t just start in a doctor’s office. It also started in communities where jobs disappeared, schools went underfunded, and healthcare was too far away, or too expensive to reach. These are called Social Determinants of Health (SDoH)—the non-medical factors that shape our ability to stay healthy, seek care, and recover. And their impact on Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) is undeniable. The human cost of SDoH: •Individuals experiencing job loss or economic insecurity are far more likely to misuse opioids—and far less likely to access care. •Only 13.4% of people who could benefit from OUD treatment actually receive it. •Adults without a high school diploma report prescription opioid use at double the rate of those with higher education. •In rural and underserved areas, nearly 1 in 5 counties have no opioid treatment programs at all. •Stigma, discrimination, and isolation compound these issues, keeping people from reaching out until it’s too late. These aren’t just statistics. They’re the lived experiences of the people who walk through our clinic doors every day, whether they be mothers, veterans, students or neighbors. Each person has a unique story and set of challenges. That’s why comprehensive care matters. At Acadia’s Comprehensive Treatment Centers, we meet people where they are, geographically, emotionally and financially, and with services that treat the whole person—not just the addiction. Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s personal. And by addressing SDoH head-on, we can help turn the tide in this crisis—one patient, one community at a time. Our network of treatment facilities offers multiple levels of care for various behavioral health and substance use disorders. At Acadia, our primary goal is to meet patients where they’re at in their treatment process. We do this by providing a multitude of levels of care, including detoxification, residential treatment for addiction, residential treatment for dual diagnosis, acute psychiatric inpatient hospitalization, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services, and an array of outpatient programming options, ranging from partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) to traditional outpatient services. Our network of treatment facilities creates greater access to care, reduces the stigma associated with mental illness and addiction, and offers those in our communities a safe environment in which to receive the treatment they need.

The month of April is nationally recognized as Alcohol Awareness Month, created to promote education about alcohol use disorder (AUD), and the devastating effects it can have on individuals and their loved ones. Each year, more than 178,000 deaths in the US are related to alcohol, and there are more than 200 diseases and injury-related conditions that are associated with misusing alcohol. At Acadia, we encourage you to be aware of alcohol abuse, and be prepared to help those around you, or yourself, get the care needed to thrive. We offer a variety of treatment programs at our facilities, and are ready to help work through the treatment journey alongside those who seek care with us. If you’re not sure where to start, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) provides a free Treatment Navigator to help individuals find the type of care and treatment that works best for them, as well as resources for teens. If you or someone you love is struggling with alcohol misuse, don’t hesitate—reach out for help today. https://lnkd.in/g9uNMfW8 https://lnkd.in/ghqdRcy2 #AlcoholUseDisorder #AlcoholAwarenessMonth #AUDRecovery #Recovery #Treatment
