April is Child Abuse Prevention Month in the U.S., and A Bolder Way Forward wants to help get messages into all communities, congregations, and homes throughout Utah. One of our spokes is A Bolder Way Forward Child Sexual Abuse Spoke, and in support of their work, the Utah Women & Leadership Project is hosting a free 1-hour webinar we hope you'll join. Approximately 1 in 7 children in Utah are sexually abused each year in Utah, yet many Utahns don’t recognize it as problem in their community. How can we address this issue and work toward a safer future for our kids? I will be interviewing four dedicated leaders in the space of child sexual abuse prevention on April 2 for a discussion on preventing child sexual abuse, its prevalence and impact, and solutions that can make a difference. The event will focus on critical issues surrounding the generational impact of childhood trauma. Dr. Nadine Burke Harris will be the keynote speaker, who will discuss adverse childhood experiences and outline crucial next steps for Utah, providing valuable insights and actionable strategies for our community. This April, Utah joins states and territories nationwide in recognizing National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. As in previous years, Utah will kick off the month on National Start by Believing Day, observed on the first Wednesday of April.
