  • Jay Teamer is a PhD candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UIC, specializing in biopolymer-based drug delivery for biofilm-infected wounds. Beyond the lab, he serves as Director of Program Management at Nucleate HQ and Due Diligence Lead at Nucleate Chicago, developing strategies to support early-stage biotech founders. With experience in ecosystem building, venture scouting, strategic operations, and organizational development, Jay is dedicated to fostering a more inclusive biotech landscape in the Midwest. For Jay, health equity means ensuring that life-changing innovations reach the people who need them most, not just those who can afford them. It's about allocating funding from saturated markets to solutions that serve underrepresented and often disregarded populations. He believes that real progress doesn't just happen; it's built with intention, by all of us, for all of us. By breaking down systemic barriers and supporting diverse founders with access to capital, mentorship, and resources, he is committed to driving real impactful change. At 2Flo Ventures, Jay is excited to explore investment opportunities that advance health equity, particularly in Black and Latino communities, where gaps in innovation and funding persist. Through his venture development and strategic operations work, he aims to help bridge these gaps, ensuring that biotech and healthcare innovations are groundbreaking but also accessible and impactful where they're needed most.

  • 📣 Fellow Friday 📣 We're thrilled to have Rebecca Keate join us as a 2Flo Ventures' Fellow! With a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a PhD from Northwestern University, Rebecca has designed regenerative biomaterials and translated academic research into real-world impact. As a PhD student, she worked with Northwestern's Office of Innovation and New Ventures, gaining firsthand experience moving scientific discoveries toward commercialization. Now, as co-founder of Cellmend Technologies, a Northwestern spinout, Rebecca is developing infection prevention and detection products using a glowing molecule—a groundbreaking approach to improving patient outcomes. To Rebecca, health equity means thinking about populations experiencing daily health struggles that experience chronic neglect. By designing new technologies with individual differences in mind, we can ensure better health solutions that benefit all instead of only helping the most. She is passionate about innovation that enhances the quality of life for historically overlooked populations, which aligns perfectly with 2Flo's mission. During the fellowship, Rebecca looks forward to diving deeper into the cutting-edge innovations shaping human health. We're excited to see the impact she'll make! Join us in welcoming Rebecca to the 2Flo Ventures community!
