Lucie Allaire - Ombudsperson

Lucie Allaire was appointed Ombudsperson.  The Office of the Ombudsperson is operational since September 1, 2010. You may make an appointment by calling us at (613) 562-5342 or emailing us at ombudsperson@uottawa.ca.

The Office is located on the 3rd floor of the University Centre, room 307.

Biography: 

Lucie Allaire is president and founder of L.A. Management Consulting, a firm providing mediation and conflict-resolution services to human-resources managers. She has worked at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat as senior advisor to the vice-president, Informal Conflict Management System, and at the Department of National Defence in Ottawa as director general of the Conflict Management Program. Through these many professional experiences in the public service, she has gained extensive knowledge in the fields of conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation. And on the strength of her solid practical and theoretical background, she has also taught mediation and negotiation at Saint Paul University.

Role: 

The purpose of the Office of the Ombudsperson is to provide an independent, impartial and informal dispute- resolution process for all members of the University community. It may make recommendations for resolution in individual cases and may also make recommendations for changes in policies and practices, where appropriate. The Office of the Ombudsperson does not replace existing channels of appeal at the University.
