Professor Lorraine Gilbert's large-scale landscapes are presented in Flora and Fauna: 400 Years of Artists Inspired by Nature At the National Gallery of Canada: an exhibition that features more than 100 works dating from the 16th to the 21st centuries, it explores the myriad ways in which artists respond to the natural world. May 9, 2012 until September 9, 2012

Exhibitions of Final Thesis Projects by MFA Graduates
The University of Ottawa's Department of Visual Arts is pleased to announce that the members of the master of fine arts (MFA) graduating class will be presenting their final thesis projects this summer in galleries across the Ottawa-Gatineau region. A must-see! -

Professor Jinny Yu was awarded an artist residency at Seoul Museum of Art Nanji Art Studio in Seoul, Korea from June 1 – August 31, 2012. She will be exhibiting her work at the Kunst Doc Art Gallery and the Nanji Art Gallery in August.

Celina Jeffery is taking a six month sabbatical starting July 1st, 2012. She will be editing a book anthology called The Artist as Curator to be published by Intellect, UK. In addition, she will be researching curatorial strategies and developing exhibition proposals in Europe and Australia.

Congratulations to Andrew Wright, Professor and Interim Chair in the Department of Visual Arts, who was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts as of June 2012. Established in 1880, today’s Academy is composed of over 700 established professionals working across Canada in 20 visual arts disciplines; from painting and sculpture to architecture, design, fine craft, photography and filmmaking.
