Financial Support and Scholarships
Master’s with Research Major Paper
The Graduate Studies Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 per session will be given on the recommendation of the academic unit to any student accepted into the M.A. in Public and International Affairs program whose admission average is 8.0/10 or more and who registers full-time for the duration of the scholarship (6 consecutive sessions).
You must remain registered FULL TIME and maintain that status for the duration of this scholarship.
Merit Scholarship 2011-2012
- The Faculty of Social Sciences offers a Merit scholarship of $1,500.00 to any student whose admission average is between 8.0 and 8.4/10. The merit scholarship is paid in two installments of $750.00, one in November and one in February.
- The Faculty of Social Sciences offers a Merit scholarship of $3,000.00 to any student whose admission average is between 8.5 and 8.7/10. The merit scholarship is paid in two installments of $1,500.00, one in November and one in February. In addition, such students are guaranteed a TA/RA position for the second year in the program. If students were to apply and be admitted into the Coop stream, we would replace this guaranteed assistantship by a scholarship of $2,000.00.

The merit scholarship is paid in two installments of $3,000.00, one in November and one in February. In addition, such students are guaranteed a TA/RA position for the second year in the program. If student were to apply and be admitted into the Coop stream, we would replace this guaranteed assistantship by a scholarship of $2,000.00.

Excellence scholarships
Excellence scholarships equivalent to tuition fees are awarded to recipients of major external awards (e.g., CIHR, FRQ, NSERC, OGS, SSHRC). They are awarded for each year that the external award is held. For those students who also received an Admission Scholarship or a Graduate Scholarship, these will be replaced with the Excellence Scholarship. The Excellence Scholarship does not include a guaranteed matching funding contribution offered by the academic unit.
Dean’s scholarship
To receive the Dean's Scholarship in the amount of $500, students will have to complete their degree in 6 sessions or less. This scholarship is available to all Canadian and Permanent Resident students, regardless of whether theyhold a Graduate Studies Scholarship.
All students enrolled full time in aneligible program, must remain for the duration of their studies without interruption (except for parental leave or sickness approved) are eligible to receive this award.
