Welcome!
As North America's largest bilingual university, the University of Ottawa welcomes an impressive blend of new and returning students every fall. This year is no exception, as our classrooms, research labs and libraries will once again be bustling with more than 38,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all over Canada and around the world. And we're ready on all fronts.
For instance, to ease the transition from home life to residence life, Housing Services will be playing a vital role in the monumental task of moving 3,000 students into the University's residences over a single weekend.
As well, to keep new and returning students on the road to academic success and to ensure they have all the support they need during their studies, u101 week provides an introduction to the programs and activities offered by the Student Academic Success Service–in collaboration with faculties and services–including student mentoring, help with essay writing, counselling or personal coaching and Aboriginal resources.
And we can't forget that while academic success is at the heart of any university, social life is also a key component of the student experience. The University of Ottawa's Student Federation and Graduate Students' Association serve up a stellar lineup of events during 101 Week, giving students plenty of opportunities to get to know each other as they soak up the excitement of their first days on campus.
Finally, to add even more zest to their experience, all uOttawa community members are encouraged to join the University's Facebook and Twitter accounts. The site is regularly updated with fresh content about interesting people on campus, upcoming events and timely news items.
Whether you're stepping onto our campus for the first time or starting your very last session, with so much going on all around, your 2010-2011 academic year stands to be a truly memorable one!
Welcome to the University of Ottawa!
