Master of Arts in Classical Studies (MA)

Welcome to the MA program in classical studies! The program focuses on the field of Late Antiquity (A.D. 200-700), the important transitional period between classical antiquity and the Middle Ages.

The Department has many specialists in this field, with expertise in history, historiography, palaeography and textual criticism, late antique Greek and Latin literature, Roman religion, Judaism, and early Christianity. We also offer the possibility of studying Coptic, Syriac, Arabic and Ethiopic (in addition to Latin and Greek).

The Department is home to the Ottawa Network for the Study of Late Antiquity, and regularly invites scholars from the region and around the world to present their research.

Students also have access to excellent resources in the libraries of the University of Ottawa and Saint Paul University.
Information on admission requirements, program requirements, and financial aid is available on the website of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

If you have questions about the program, do not hesitate to contact the Director of Graduate Studies, Dominique Côté, at dcot2@uOttawa.ca.
