SWITCH talks about AI and Robotics in Scrap! As the primary material used in EAF steelmaking, scrap is poised to play a pivotal role in the decarbonisation of the steel industry. The UK’s scrap supply is currently hindered by high levels of exports to other countries and a lack of advanced sorting and processing facilities to maximise the potential value available. However, emerging #AI and #robotics technologies could be crucial to fulfilling the growing demand for scrap, due to their extreme accuracy, efficiency and productivity. Read our full SWITCH article to learn more about how AI and robotics are transforming the scrap industry. https://lnkd.in/evacX8SP Powered by ParkerSteel Limited #Decarbonisation #SteelIndustry #Robotics #Sustainability #ScrapMetal #GreenTechnology #InnovationInSteel

About us
Why is SWITCH important? The measure of a company's value is about more than just maximising the next quarter's profits; it must also include its worth to society. We cannot build a sustainable future without working together to resolve global challenges such as climate change, human rights, and health and wellbeing. These challenges are bigger than any one company, which is why the SWITCH model aims to introduce easily replicated sustainable initiatives to address global issues. What can SWITCH do for you? The SWITCH model has unlimited opportunities for companies in any sector to make practical and sustainable changes to their operations. Working together with like-minded businesses towards mutual goals encourages collaborative success and provides a wider pool of knowledge and ideas to draw from. How did SWITCH come about? The concept for SWITCH was developed by ParkerSteel Ltd, a leading UK steel stockholder and processor based in the Southeast of England. As of 2019, they have formed a part of Taurani Holdings, a globally renowned conglomerate stretching across four countries.

SWITCH talks about Closed-Loop Steel Production! Steel #decarbonisation is a trending topic in the industry, but achieving a 95% reduction in emissions by 2050 remains an Everest-sized challenge due to the financial and logistical strain on steelmaking companies. However, researchers from University of Birmingham have developed an innovative alternative for steel decarbonisation, allowing existing blast furnaces to be retrofitted with a closed-loop system that can replace up to 90% of the coking coal typically used in current steel production. Read our full SWITCH article to learn more about this closed-loop model and the feasibility of implementing it in the steel industry. https://lnkd.in/eP2G24rR Powered by ParkerSteel Limited #SteelProduction #Sustainability #ClosedLoop #GreenSteel #Innovation #ClimateAction #SteelIndustry #ParkerSteel

SWITCH talks about 3D Printing! With billions of tonnes of waste produced globally from manufacturing processes, 3D printing and other forms of additive manufacturing have become increasingly appealing, generating almost zero waste and lowering the cost of raw materials. Although the technology is still developing, additive manufacturing is already favoured in several industries for its precision and efficiency and was even used by ArcelorMittal to prototype this year’s #Olympic torch. Read our full SWITCH article to learn more about the challenges and possibilities for additive manufacturing and the role it may play in a sustainable future - https://lnkd.in/ekmrznYi Powered by ParkerSteel Limited #SWITCH #Switch4Better #technology #3D #3DPrinting #manufacture #Olympics #Paris International Olympic Committee – IOC
