🏘️ Kenneth Ryan named chief longevity officer for The Estate 🏘️ Kenneth Ryan, former VP of global operations for spa, fitness and retail at Marriott International has been appointed chief longevity officer for luxury hospitality concept, The Estate. Ryan will use his 27 years’ experience to introduce AI-driven health assessments, biological age tracking, tailored programming and more to the upcoming portfolio of properties. The role will see him leading collaborations with biotech firms, longevity experts and medical institutions to bring therapies and wellness technologies to The Estate. He’ll also develop retreats, membership programmes, branded wellness products and longevity-focused experiences. The business is owned by hospitality mogul Sam Nazarian’s operating firm, SBE, and backed by life coach Tony Robbins, musician Marc Anthony and investor Richard Attius. The Estate’s portfolio is being designed to ‘reshape the future of luxury hotels and resorts’ by combining preventative medicine, AI diagnostics and longevity science with plans for a portfolio of 15 luxury wellness properties and 10 city-centre preventative medicine and longevity centres by 2030. Some locations will partner with CLINIQUE LA PRAIRIE, the 90-year-old Swiss clinic, which is in the middle of a global rollout, to offer holistic treatments through the 'Longevity Hub by Clinique La Prairie' and its line of Longevity Supplements, CLP Holistic Health. Ryan has been known as the strategist behind Marriott’s luxury brands, overseeing the world’s largest hospitality spa portfolio, comprising more than 650 locations generating US$540 million (€476 million, £408 million) annually. He has also worked with brands, including Fairmont, Raffles, Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis. Commenting on the role, he told Spa Business: “The greatest challenge is ensuring every experience is as unique as the individual we’re serving – this isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. What sets The Estate apart is that longevity isn’t an amenity, it’s a core philosophy. We’re creating a way of living that’s as intentional as it is indulgent. Earlier this month Ryan announced he was establishing his own consultancy, Ryan Wellness Group, following his departure from Marriott. Potential multi-billion dollar ‘ghost market’ for the wellness sector 👩⚕️💭 A new report from women’s health venture capitalist, Amboy Street Ventures, highlights the value of health interventions for women – an underserved market that spa and wellness operators are ideally placed to address as emerging tech enables the delivery of effective treatments in physical, mental and sexual health. The report highlights innovative products and therapies that could be delivered in a wellness setting, as well as taking a broad look at women’s health care in the US. Lack of access to menopause-specific care, for example, means some women are missing out on red light therapy and non-hormonal treatments for vaginal dryness – also known as vaginal atrophy. The authors estimate that vaginal health alone is an untapped market of US$17.5 billion (€15.4 billion, £13.3billion) a year. As the trend for merging medical and wellness services at spas continues to grow, women’s health interventions represent an investment opportunity as demand is proven and new solutions emerge. Wellness settings can be less intimidating than traditional health clinics when it comes to getting tested and treated, driving growth in the market. Overall, the report estimates that the untapped ‘ghost markets’ relating to different aspects of female health offer a combined US$360 billion-worth (€418 billion, £310 billion) of opportunities for innovation in the US each year. 🇮🇹 Dior announces first spa in Italy 🇮🇹 Dior, which has been quietly opening luxury spas in high-end locations around the world, including Samaritaine Paris Pont-Neuf and Cheval Blanc in Paris, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the Côte d'Azur and The Lana, Dubai - Dorchester Collection, Dubai, has revealed the location of its next opening – Belmond’s super luxe Splendido, A Belmond Hotel in Portofino on the Italian Riviera. The spa will open on 7 June. Dior has hosted a pop-up spa for guests in the Dior Jardin des Rêves at the Hotel Splendino for the past two summers and the success of these has inspired the opening of the permanent Dior Spa Splendido. Resplendent in Dior’s signature Toile de Jouy fabrics, the spa will offer a range of high-end treatments, including signature offering – SplendiDior – a 90 minute face and body ritual using semi-precious stones at 450€ for 90 minutes and D-Calm, a 60-minute treatment for sun exposure and including a dermo-repairing cataplasm wrap at €330. ‘La Dolce Vita Therapy’ will feature a yoga session, a full body massage and a facial, while ‘A Getaway in Portofino’ starts with a lunch at the Splendido Grill, overlooking Portofino Bay, followed by a SplendiDior treatment. Set across two floors of the hotel, with views over the sea, the indoor-outdoor spa will offer a nature-inspired experience that complements the hotel’s existing Dior Jardin des Rêves. Guests will be welcomed in a lounge bathed in natural light and offering Dior retailing. The spa will have four treatment rooms, one of which transforms into a beauty boudoir, as well as a double room with uninterrupted views of the sea. The centerpiece will be a rooftop terrace surrounded by gardens, offering guests a place to relax post-treatment. Natural materials such as rattan, reed canopies, and cotton drapes will create a shaded space with lounge chairs and a wellness bar serving customised drinks. The opening is part of a phased renovation of Hotel Splendido by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Read more about the openings here: http://lei.sr/a8k9H

📚💡MEN IN WELLNESS: Laszlo Puczko sparks industry dialogue on men’s evolving role in wellness 📚💡 Laszlo Puczko, CEO of Health Tourism Worldwide (HTWWLife), has initiated a new conversation about the evolving role of men in wellness. Through his Wellness of Men/Wellness for Men project, Puczko has brought together industry leaders to explore the challenges and opportunities around making wellness more inclusive for men. His four-year initiative includes two surveys, now summarised in two detailed reports. The first survey gathered insights from over 350 men worldwide about their wellness habits, stressors and relaxation preferences, while the second report compiled feedback from nearly 80 industry experts to discuss the implications of these findings for the wellness sector. “We felt men’s voices were underrepresented in wellness discussions,” said Puczko. “We wanted to see how industry experts interpreted our results and how they can translate them into practical business strategies because the industry needs actionable insights to better cater to and attract male consumers.” Check out a summary of the findings here: http://lei.sr/8S5a4 Dr László Puczkó PhD MA MSc CMC, Andrew Gibson, Anna Bjurstam, Mia Kyricos ❤️, Lindsay Madden-Nadeau, Daniella Russell Harper, Alberto Apostoli, Belgin Aksoy, Patrizia Bortolin Wellness Creative, Lucy Brialey, Matteo Brusaferri, Cary Collier, Lynn Curry, CMC, ISHC, Alina M.
