OW Ocean Winds UK

Wind Electric Power Generation

DELIVERING THE GREEN RECOVERY WITH THE UK

About us

Ocean Winds is grounded on the strength of two global brands in combination – EDP Renewables and ENGIE. The Joint Venture has a proven UK market track record of delivery in the Moray East project, one of the country’s largest offshore windfarms. Ocean Winds has been at the forefront of cost reduction through innovation creating benefit to consumers as a result of the record low Contract for Difference (CfD) award in 2017 for Moray East of £57.50/MWh. Moray West is in the construction phase having reached Financial Close in April 2023. The first power is due in 2024 and the wind farm will be fully operational in 2025. Higher transmission charges for northern projects must be reformed to enable Moray West and other northern projects to deliver economic continuity for ‘levelling up’ and the post Covid recovery.

  • #Event | 📢 From Talk to Action: OW Ocean Winds shares reflections at SOWEC’s 2024 Annual Review   Earlier this week, Project Director for our CALEDONIA Offshore Wind Farm and chair of the SOWEC Developers Group, Mark Baxter, joined industry leaders at Holyrood to launch the SOWEC Annual Report — and shared a clear message:   👉 “Let’s move from discussion to delivery.”   Scotland’s ambition has positioned it as a global leader in #OffshoreWind, with a huge pipeline of both fixed and floating projects. But turning that ambition into reality depends on action — both within and beyond SOWEC. From accelerating grid infrastructure and connections, to reforming spatial planning and consenting, and securing supply chain investment through Scottish and UK funding models — coordinated delivery is essential.   In particular, a laser-focus is needed on driving progress on policy priorities: 🔹Reforming transmission to unlock the full potential of Scottish offshore wind projects 🔹A decision on REMA to support Scottish developments and provide investment certainty 🔹CfD reform to promote a stable and predictable regime 🔹National grid planning with Scotland’s vast resources as a key component 🔹Support floating offshore wind with funding & policy incentives   We’ve discussed the challenges–now, it’s time to delivery to unlock Scotland’s full potential and create a just transition for generations to come.⚡   #ProudtobeOW #RenewableEnergy

On this International Women’s Day, we recognize the road ahead - but let’s also take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made at OW Ocean Winds this year! 2024 has been a year of positive changes, and here is where we stand today: ☑️  37% of our workforce is women, with women making up only 21%* of the wind energy sector – a gap that still needs closing!   ☑️ 49% of new hires are women.   ☑️ 18% promotion rate for both women and men    – a testament to our commitment to providing equal opportunities and fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive and succeed. At OW, we’re taking actions that make an impact – from promoting #STEM to the next generations, to securing an inclusive environment where women are empOWered at all career stages. So, today, we renew our commitment to equity – going beyond numbers and building a culture where everyone has the opportunity to grOW, no matter their gender. Because only together, we can break barriers and shape a diverse, stronger, and wind-powered future. 🌬️ *IRENA; Wind Energy: A Gender Perspective #ProudtobeOW, #IWD2025, #WomenInEnergy #Womenleaders #internationalwomensday, #offshorewind

#Event | OW Ocean Winds is proud to reflect on the success of our Parliamentary Reception, “Unlocking Scotland’s Offshore Wind Potential,” held earlier this week, at the Scottish Parliament. We extend our sincere gratitude to Karen Adam MSP for sponsoring the event, and to Minister for Climate Action Alasdair Allan MSP for an insightful keynote. 🎤   Bringing together parliamentarians and key stakeholders, the event sparked important conversations about the opportunities, challenges, and urgent policy needs for Scotland’s #OffshoreWind sector. Our team showcased how our projects are delivering clean power, jobs, and economic value, while also addressing critical investment risks—particularly the uncertainty posed by potential electricity market changes.   From asset management to supply chain development, skills, and policy, discussions at our information stands reinforced how our projects support #JustTransition goals, strengthening communities through local partnerships. 🤝 A huge thanks to SSERC, ESP (Energy Skills Partnership), Clarksons, and Global Energy Group for sharing their insights on working with us to drive meaningful change in skills development and supply chain growth. 🏗️ 📈   Scotland’s offshore wind success depends on urgent action—let’s keep pushing forward, together! 🌊   See how we lived the event in the pictures below! 👇   #ProudtobeOW
