𝗔 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴’𝘀 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿🍻 How are we halfway through April already? March brought us the closing rounds of the Six Nations, St. Patricks Day and Mother’s Day. I’ve been catching up with some GM’s to find out what else they got up to! 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 “My site has a huge back garden – so that’s where a lot of my focus has been – We’ve been jet washing, cleaning and sprucing up so that it is ready for the Summer. The weather forecast for Mother’s Day was looking good so we focused on being ready for then. Thankfully the sun did indeed come out! I’ve also been getting quotes for new garden furniture and games which fits in with our vision of being a great family pub!” “We offer some fairly unique events and sales driving activities and because these have been so successful and fit in with the vision of our pub, we have been given the green light to push this further, so I have been working on adding new events to the calendar to encourage our guests to visit the pub more often” “My Assistant Manager attended a Service Masters training session. These happen 3 times per year and the first session focused on inductions, team training and coffee chats. When they returned, I asked them to come up with a plan with what they were going to implement and what support they need as well as how we would measure success. It’s only been a few weeks but the results are starting to show already in our guest feedback” “My head chef has been working hard on creating new seasonal dishes for Spring. Our wet growth was significant in the last Financial Year, and so we will be adding some dishes to reflect that and grow our food offer – small plates, sharers and finger food which fits our vision of “social destination pub” “We are a seasonal site, so the focus has been on recruiting and inducting team ahead of what I hope is a very successful summer for us – this is where the work my Service Master has been doing around creating a pub-specific induction plan has really paid off” “We have one of the biggest pub garden’s in North West London, and with Wembley being nearby, I have been researching event travel companies and reaching out to let them know that we can easily accommodate hundreds of people if their guests want to stop off for a drink on the way – and we have space in the carpark for a coach or 2!” Are you an experienced General Manager that wants to run a pub where you have creativity and freedom in how you develop your offer?
