Well done Lichfield District Council 👏 Councils play a significant role in protecting and enhancing biodiversity in your local area 🌱 By acting together, we can restore nature and support a healthier future for wildlife and people 🦋 Urge your local council in England to act today 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXk3_B9u
Lichfield District Council is recognised as one of only eight UK councils committed to tackling ‘nature emergency’ 👏 The Woodland Trust has recognised our work after assessing 395 councils, and we have met all of its criteria in addressing the urgent need for nature recovery. We've demonstrated our commitment by adopting a comprehensive action plan and ensuring it is embedded in our policies and strategy. The aim is to protect 30% of council-owned land for nature by 2030 in line with the global target set at the UN Biodiversity Summit (COP 15) in 2022.

Today’s word is florescence! 🌸 In botany, this refers to the emergence of flowers, derived from the Latin flōrēscentia which means blossoming 🌼 A related word is 'inflorescence' which refers to a cluster of flowers on a branch or a system of branches 🌱 As the days grow longer and warmer, you're sure to spot flowers carpeting the woodland floor. Which ones have you seen? 🔍 Spotted blackthorn flowering? Record it on our website 👉 https://bit.ly/3WIDz5D
