A sunny day to celebrate #nationalpoultryday It's been another busy day at work, collecting and processing eggs gathered from our flocks and those of our producers. Millions of eggs go out of our packing centre each week, destined for the shelves of our customers including Booths, Cranstons Butcher + Maker, locally and nationally for large food retailers like Sainsbury's, Tesco, and Asda. And if you had a trip to McDonald's, you may even have had one of our eggs for breakfast. Tastes change, and people really value eggs from high welfare hens. They also like them to be blue, or brown, or white, which means more new breeds of laying hens. Sustainable farming is important to us, so we keep moving forward with our plans to reduce our carbon footprint, plant more trees, and continue researching to improve what we do. There is much more to working with poultry than just collecting eggs, and we are grateful to all the producers who follow the same ethos as ourselves, to put high-welfare freer range eggs on the shelves for everyone to enjoy.

On National Random Acts of Kindness Day we just wanted to say a big congratulations to Jane Brass our Sustainability Manager, for growing her hair and getting a haircut in aid of The Little Princess Trust which supports children with cancer.   Jane’s foot long donation of hair will be used to help young people who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and is being donated to The Little Princess Trust. The Trust says “hair gives hope” because the donation of natural hair enables wigs to be made specially hand made. Jane Brass said “I’ve been growing my hair out to donate for a while now and the time has come! The Little Princess Trust do amazing work and requests hair ideally of 12 inches or more. We managed to get more than a foot of hair to donate which was plaited into four long braids before the big chop. It’s lovely to think that something as simple as a haircut to me, will put a big smile on a little girl’s face who really needs it.   It costs £700 to make these bespoke wigs so I am also collecting any donations toward covering the cost of the wig creation, allowing it to be offered to a child free of charge. Today is #worldcancerday - a day to raise awareness of cancer. So many people are or will be affected by it, and so much research is being done to combat the disease. Our pink packs of Laid With Love eggs are not only highly nutritious, they have a Great Taste Award, and, importantly, we make a donation to cancer research for every pack sold. Since our launch, we have donated thousands of pounds to Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and Cure Leukaemia to name just 2 charities.
